I played in Forgotten Skies or Forgotten Wars, or whatever the shreck it use to be called and then got renamed.
Was a lot of fun, the only way to navigate was by compass, landmarks and a lot of dead reckoning. No icons, I think before my computer died and the patch fiasco with Uber Buttplugs Inc. that they were pushing for short icons. I really oppose that idea because you get one of several problems: Plane ID only, you know what you are attacking before you get into gun range. Range tag, you can better aim rockets and hit at your pre-set convergence for your guns to get an insta-kill. Think those were the only two options, didn't like them all that much.
Then my computer died on me, so I've been putting a new one together over the past few weeks. Finally got the time to test it out and it runs AEP great in perfect mode, except I get an occasional brief (millisecond) pause that appears to be from texture loading... figured 128MB w/S3TC compression would have saved enough memory to not require that kind of transfering. Maybe I have a setting messed up somewhere... Anyone know any good tips for the Radeon 9800 Pro?
Right now its only at 4X AGP, if I can figure out why 8X AGP makes the system unstable - maybe that'll cure some problems.
