« on: October 21, 1999, 11:16:00 AM »
These are the best plane Graphics I have ever seen.

Nice P51 spinner was even spinning in the shot. Guns are firing also.

Almost ashame to shoot it down.

Nice shot <G>

I'd noticed I can ID a 109 very well from about 300-500 yards away as the camo and outline are so good.
That's good assuming one day icons could go way.

I wouldnt mind the Icon going away and be replaced by stripes on the wings like the invasion stripes or some thing like that, somthing to show the nme. I can actualy see the plane shape now at over 1200 yrds out.

Considering that Pyro has stated that there will be multiple arenas to suite multiple tastes I'm sure that at least one of them will have icons turned off or at least down.  I'd like to see that also.  As it is I spend too much time watching the D counter and not enough watching the plane beneath it. :-)

The B17G especially is a beautiful work of art - the best B17G around. Hopefully it will get moving turrets when the gunners are put in.

CC on the stripes.
BTW icons are a necessity givne that all aircraft fly for each side.
I'd hate to home in on an La5 because he was
an LA5 but I couldn't tell if Rook, Bishop or Knight

Scneario's would be a nice place to try the "no icons" out.
There you know if you spy a plane type you know if it is friendly or not.

Yes, I agree the external a/c art is very good overall. The P51 especially looks good.
The 109 seems like it could use a few more polygons in the upper fuselage area forward of the cockpit along with the wing leading edges. Also, the Spitfire fuselage could use a very very slight trimming down.

Okay, I'm kind of a stickler for details.

Thanks for posting this indian. I posted it on AGW. Shame those WB people are so closed minded about AH. They could make some great contributions to the future of better priced higher quality online sims.

funked,

Adding anti-aliasing wouldn't be worth the performance hit.  Wait for the next gen of 3d cards which will have a lot of that type of stuff built in.

The 109 would be almost perfect...IF...the right wing crosses were there for the G10

Man some people dont seem to realize the
fine balance between art of the planes
and game play. Hi tech is shooting to be able
to run on 200 mhz machines to do that somethings gotta give. and I'd rather see it be a little bit of art vs game physics
If the min computer the game would play on was a 450 PII then I'm sure the art could be much more detailed. I think Hi Tech and crew have done an awesome job of riding the fine line they have to program on to make the game playable. And this is a beta you guys not a full release. Give em some time and Im sure things will only get better and better.
Im been very impressed and happy with what I've seen so far (except for maybe those tracers)  Congrats on a great looking game HT and crew! Keep up the good work and I'm sure you'll have no problem keeping your arenas full and the dweebs a dying.

OK Darn it I need some information on this >>>  look at the image of the P-51D in the beginning post.  Does it look 'watery' or blurred around the aircraft to anyone else?  Most of the time I spend enjoying images on the internet lately they are distorted like this.  Other times they are clear.  What causes these images to take on that water distorted look?  How the HELL do I get rid of it!

It's been over a year now and I've never heard anyone else refer to this problem.  I'm just hoping I'm not the only one who sees these images this way.

Any advice???

Probably something to do with compression used by the jpeg format?

I agree with juz...its the picture not the game. I've never ever seen any kind of distoring while flying.
