How could they be so far off the polls?

That cannot be right.

Just taking my own small rudimentary survey I find about 1/4 of the people I talk to are leaning toward Kerry, and this is out of the people I know or work with.

So chances are these folks normally lean the same way I do.

What gives?

While I am thrilled at the result, the reality is that it is a straw poll, nothing scientific.

I know it's not well understood, but statistics mandate certain rules for a poll to have merit.......this one doesn't.

(oh pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease let it be  right!)

heheh

Fairly certain Bush has this election in the can, for ****'s sakes he's running against someone with no plans, no certainties, nothing at all other than not being Bush... oh and the whole served in Vietnam deal, which appears to be quite a thorn in his side afterall.

But, either way... we're ****ing doomed if either one gets elected.

seems simple to me.  it's an AOL poll.

so the survey is mainly AOL customers, arguably some of the dimmest people with net access.  these people still haven't taken the training wheels off of their modem.
I don't find it odd at all that this particular group seems much more inclined to get sucked into voting for 4 more years of our current situation.

I take it what you can't understand is why Kerry shows as well as he does, and isn't being killed in the poll ever more so than it illustrates?

If 1/4 are leaning towards Kerry, that leaves 3/4 leaning towards Bush.  A great landslide in the making.

It will be an interesting election to be sure.

Dago-

The problem with your assessment is the fact that I know and befriend generally like minded people as me.

So if 1/4 of my friends, whom are normally conseervative are leaning Kerry, then the nation as a whole should be more like 1/2 Kerry as all the other polls indicate.

PS...you know why most are leaning Kerry.

They all cite the same things that have floated around the net and Michael Moores film.

Bush and the Bin laden family being allowed to leave after 9/11 is one of them. Most folks dont bother to check the facts. They just accept what the media feeds them.

What you are saying is true, that is the danger with a film like Moore made, so little fact, so many lies, yet that film has influenced many.  Morons.

Personally, in my circle I can't think of but maybe one person leaning towards Kerry, the rest I think are smart enough to realize the truth about the man and his lack of character.

AOL has a straw poll every month. Last month it was pretty close

Maybe the dems havent voted or America is waking up to the skerry camp.
