A future mission I would like to run in the MA
« on: August 11, 2004, 02:04:24 PM »
I was "thinking" last night and the recent mass Ju87D gave me an idea for a mission I'd like to run in the MA after 2.01 is released.

I would like to try a Ki-67 raid, escorted by Ki-84s, on the HQ of the country with the largest numbers.  With a single target payload of only 1,650lbs per bomber a lot of hits would be required, but the Ki-67 is one of the most capable bombers in the MA in regards to reaching the target.  The Ki-84 will have the fuel range to escort them all the way there and then back out.

I don't know if a Ki-67 has ever taken an HQ out, but I think it would be fun to make the attempt.

Downside:  I will be moving shortly and will no longer have DSL , in fact I may not have any internet connection for a while.  2.01 may be out for a while before I can even get my hands on it to try the Ki-84 .

I will be in a Me-163 waiting for those juicy Ki-67s.

The Me163s will be an issue, but enough bombers and the HQ will go down anyways.  We'd probably take some Me163s with us too.  I've killed Me163s with the Ki-67.

Total geek, eh?

Well, maybe not.  Had to use a binary converter.

ki67s are the BEST bombers to shoot down Me163s down...hmmm 20mm cannon. Oh and Ki67s are good on HQ raids..... why? because Ki67s are so fast at 20k (best alt for speed) that the bombs are normaly GONE before the 163s reach you.... doing 340 level, these bombers will hit around 400 in a 1000fpm shallow dive. This means 163s have a very slow closing speed, making it easyer to aim at.......BOOOOOOOM

i remember a AHI sortie where i landed 7 kills in a Ki67 ;)

ah, and another plan for me would be Lancs, 19k (again best alt) and 2 groups of mossies...... one NOE about 50miles ahead of formation to VULCH the 163 field. And the 2nd one above the bombers, and 20miles ahead of it. the NOE mossies will have rockets for acks @ 163 field. The high mossies might carry bombs, but will dump them on first contact with any high fighters. The NOE mossies should also take out radar at any base the lancs will soon pass over....

this wont ever happen in AHII because people underestermate team work and forward planning.....

Same for B17s/p51s and p47s...47s vulch 163 field, 51s protect bombers, b17s...well you guessed it........ ;)

In!
... missions were to be met by the commitment of alerted swarms of fighters, composed of Me 109's and Fw 190's, that were strategically based to protect industrial installations. The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

ki67 has very little defenses against a HO attack from a fighter. Get higher than the bombers about 6k infront, dive to gain speed and blow past the ki84s and ho as many bombers as possible. I found that a P47 is a good plane to do this, because it can take alot of damage

Jets/Rockets were prone to attack on take-offs and landings. They were slow to gain speed on take-offs, and had to slow down many miles before the field when comming in to land. On each account they can't gain speed as quickly and high fighters could easily bag them. Allied aircraft would fly near friendly fields and shoot down jets/rockets landing and taking off. That's how the majority of them were shot down in WWII. More or less for the 163 which had rapid speed recovery time. Still they were vulnerable as well.

Replace the high mossie group with Ta152s or P51D. :)

Sounds like fun Karnak.

I can hear the chants getting louder.

"Bring on the "Frank." Bring on the "Frank." "

I haven't seen a new plane introduced into the game so I'm anxiously awaiting not only the new tactics and strategies that might emerg but the whine posts about it being over/under modeled.:D

Overlag,

GRUNHERZ is correct.  The RAF had quite a few P-51s in inventory and often used them for long range escort purposes.

What would be needed is the ability to select skins for the mission being run so that the P-51s are in RAF colors.
