But you have to be an MSDN subscriber to have it :(

Rumor is it will be out this week for the rest of us.

Did anyone test the RC2 version?

The previous links to it are to the entire service pack.  Most people will not need.  The SP2 upgrade pack, which will be available on the MS update site will contain an installer which will only upgrade what needs to be upgraded.

Caution:  The installation of the full SP2 file has been known to corrupt and/or render some applications non-operational.  If you chose to use this full pack, it is strongly advised you backup any important data first.

I KNOW that when you install it it turns on the internal firewall. I HEARD that you cannot permanently disable it. Anyone know if that is true, I'm too afraid to try :D

Microsoft help and support center says: "In Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2), Windows Firewall is turned on by default. (However, some computer manufacturers and network administrators might turn it off.) You do not have to use Windows Firewall—you can install and run any firewall that you choose. Evaluate the features of other firewalls and then decide which firewall best meets your needs. If you choose to install and run another firewall, turn off Windows Firewall."

Hiya's,

SP2 does NOT limit the maximum number of tcp connecions but only the number of *opening* connections.

If you understand the above then ya might wanna get to site below ;)

you can find a patch on this site:

http://www.lvllord.de/

As patches goes it's easy and i have defaulted mine to 1000 and now i am back on par with SP1 :)

Skuzzy this is ok to post aint it ???? If not gimme a telling off n delete it etc  ;)

Afterall i see this as a "tweak" myself
