Their product sucks. Over time it tends to spike erratically until no amount of stick scaling, dampening, etc (short of simply making it entirely unresponsive to commands) will keep you from getting excessive control movement messages in AH by merely breathing on it. Promoting this product should get someone shot on sight. No offense. :D

There is a thing called USB now ... welcome to the 21st century! ;)

You can combine your favourite stick with a throttle. I use a Cyborg EVO stick and the throttle of the X45. Custom HOTAS! USB is a great thing.

since the throttle on an x45 does not plug in on it's own do you have the whole x45 plugged in? if so how do you profile the 2 sticks at the same time?

just curious
I don't know what to put here yet.

Yes I have two joysticks listed, but AH lets you assign which stick you want to use to every axis. I have the pitch, roll and yaw set to the cyborg, and throttle and trim set to the X45. All buttons on both sticks are available. Neat.

Ditto.

I had steady increase for first 3-4 months, then stalled at peak for a month -- which was frustrating in itself. This month I've got worse KPD than even my newbie month.

I think a couple things are going on for me. First and foremost, I've now got the confidence to fight in situations that I'd have completely avoided before. That alone could explain most of my "decline." However, I'm also pressing -- I'm almost suicidally aggressive sometimes, willing to dao anyting for a kill opportunity. Yesterday I saw a low con on the deck right beneath me and dove 90degree vertically from 5k alt advantage -- i got the kill, but of course I augered. I leaned back and dimly realized "THAT wasnt very smart, was it" -- while a part of me wsa satisfied that I at least killed something.

Break the cycle. I've been ypping bombers, going to CT, and just flying less to let the adrenaline frustration bleed off. I'll be back in all my glorious mediocrity before too long.....

About the stick -- you'll never be able to hit anything if you don't have a reliable center. (SOunds like the Zen continuation of the above paragraphs, doesnt it.) I went through 2 logitech wingman extreme sticks in 6 omnths, having to calibrate all the time at the end. I think we AH'ers get so much use that we just push those sticks past their design limitations -- so I'd suggest either getting a not for the masses stick (just bought my x45 and can't BELIEVE how much better it feels), or buying a cheap one with the Best Buy warranty for $7-10 added cost. that way when it dies, you can just take it in and restart the process for another $10 (to get a new warranty on the replacement stick.....hehehe).

I think we all get greedy or kill hungry at times. When it happens your flying ussually goes into the bucket.

Luck is a part of it.

Part of it can be dealt with by flying smart, pick your fights, not the biggest furball, but a smaller one a sector over.

Don't be greedy, up a plane with fair endurance & just go enjoy the ride.

If you find a good one on one, take it.

It never hurts to pop back into the TA & work with some of the better sticks/trainers.  Reinforce good tatics.

Same with DA.

Step back from the frantic rush to kill, fly a goon, drive a tank, grab a plane you've never flown & take it for a spin.

I went from a gameport CH setup (with TM Pedals) to the X-45, and haven't looked back since. I even like the stupid 4th axis on it (which is most people's compaint). At first I thought it looked like it was going to break easily, but that was a year and a half ago, and I've never had any trouble with it. I even flew across country with it jammed in my carry on bag.

As for kill hungry scoring droughts... I usually notice that I end up focusing on ONE or TWO aspects of combat at any given period. For example, I'll conciously focus on my ingress, egrees tactics. Or I'll focus on trying to get my Hit % higher. When I do things like that, I tend to do well. But when I try to put everything together (SA, AIM, ACM) I usually fail a lot. I just don't have a natural instict for it. It's why I continue to suck after 10 years of flight On-line flight sims.

I am using one and have for about 2 years now. Like was stated above, you can adjust tension with the screw on the bottom to your preference. I find them to be very smooth.

I have an X45 Throttle as well as the stick. The throttle has an adjustment on the bottom to free it up some. I like mine very much. I like my whole setup as a matter a fact.:lol
