Charley's 1st outer band just hit
« on: August 13, 2004, 04:57:54 PM »
One of Charley's outer bands just passed by.  Tornado warning was issued about 15 miles south of me...strong squal with winds 45mph gusting to 60mph.

We are expecting the eye to pass over my house in 12 hrs.

Hope Eagler, Whels and other south central Floridians are doing OK.

Sounds like were only gonna be getting 75mph winds..

Better then the 120mph winds..

It seems like they evacualted 1 million people and moved them right into the path of the hurricane.  Just shows you that the experts can be wrong.  Just sayin.

Well, at least inland you don't have the tidal surge, that's where 90% of the people die, drowning.  However, flooding may get you inland.

About 100 people choose to stay at Sanibel Island before they cut off the bridge access.  Should be interesting to hear their stories, they took the eye.

yeap, Sanibel is our vaction spot of choice

a hard afternoon rain can flood the streets there

wonder if anything is left of the little motel we stay at on the beach

plus its sea turtle nesting season on the island

I heard Sanabel was hit hard...more than 160 homes severely damaged and another 160 totally destroyed.
