What is it like?
« on: March 16, 2000, 02:32:00 PM »
I've yet to play AH. I have heard a rumor that the p51 is available all the time here. True? Hard to imagaine. Dare to dream! Is that so? Is it available like the days of WB past? You mean, if someone wants to fly a particular ac, they can...that simple?

WHat is the p51 like? What color is her nose?
Please tell me what she is like.

Once you get to altitude and speed she flys like a silken angel laced with anger and determination.

Blue nose, silver overall.

Difficult to master but lethal at convergence.

I like daddy, have never even seen AH and I was wondering about the 109s. Being a mac man I won't be able to look myself but wanted to know what I'm missing. Am I missing out?

What version of 109?
Gun package?
Loadout?
Performance?
Do many people fly them?

Inquiring minds want to know.

There are 4 109's

F4, G2, G6, G10...take ur pick!  They can carry just about anything you want.  If you wanna hang some gondolas on er, go ahead!  A drop tank perhaps?

Heya sigimund four versions

109f4 JG2 camo
1x20mm + 2x7.9mm
gunpods(2x20mm) optional
109G2 Finnish Airforce camo
1x20mm + 2x7.9mm or 1x30mm + 2x7.9mm
gunpods(2x20mm) optional
109G6
1x20mm + 2x13mm or 1x30mm + 2x13mm
gunpods (2x20mm) optional
109G10
1x20mm + 2x13mm or 1x30mm + 2x13mm
gunpods (2x20mm)

On all 109's droptank or 250kg or 500kg bomb optional.

I only fly the G2 and G10. G2 splendid mix of turn and climb (don't exagerate the turn tho).
G10 one of the most dangerous birds in the game. Evil acceleration, Evil topspeed (can catch the pony if it's not realy weary, 2nd fastest plane), rocket climbrate (5000 feet a min with drops, going to 3500 at 20K), can you say MW50

109's are flown quite alot here, specialy in knight country, my squad 32 strong flies it very much but there are alot of dedicated drivers outside too.

Daddy, go to webside and look for gamehelp, current aircraft, you'll see a nice description of the pony in there + some pics.

Daddy, the Pony is bird of pure beauty in AH, and if properly flown it is untouchable. And yah and you can fly it all you want

I never was much of a Mustang Driver in Warbirds, but its pretty much all I fly here.

I agree with Sharky, jump in and try it. At first every plane will feel like it burns E much faster, especially in manuevers. But this is a good thing for the Pony, and other E fighers, since it empahsizes E management.

Oh, and I can guarantee that you won't see any Spitfires or F6F's do a 180 degree break turn and then climb up your backside too shoot you down.

I'm still relearning since I've have relativley little time in AH. One thing that I have noticed is the relative parity amongst the a/c (which I like) IE, you don't really need the best a/c to be successfull...cliche I know, but check the plane vs. plane stats in the scoring section (I love that btw - I'm a stat freak hehehe).

Whether this observation is due to the youth of the game and us not figuring out the nuances yet, or because of other factors...I dunno, but I like that aspect.

What does have me up in arms is the lethality...when I am on-line it seems the guns are really really strong, but when I check the stats, it seems normal. Perhaps 6 months of blanks in my WB MG151's has my brain all screwed up

The P51D and the 109's are arch adversarys in AH; both have many proponents and skilled pilots.

The debate on which is best will rage on for quite some time yet. For my part; I'm a pony driver; and I'll take my chances in one against anything in the sim. Flown correctly, as noted by Verm; it's the plane of legend. I consider the AH P51D the best one ever rendered in any sim; from any perspective.

Part of what makes this so is the detailed and (IMHO) correct modeling or the P51's adversrys; the superb 109's and the deadly FW. And, I also consider them also to be the best modeled anywhere. If flying for the LW is your bag; look no further than AH; for here; the LW planes get a fair shake.

Should you think you'd like to give it a try; the AH download and first 2 weeks of in the arena flight are free. Bring fresh underwear; the fights are fierce.

Good Hunting!

Hia daddy!
Just come and try it - its new with several rough edges, MA can be the same bs (allthough 3 sides) as you know from WB.But it allready has many good features: view system, extra loadouts, you-move-and-you-bleed-E.FM can allways be debated (I wont\cant), but whats important is that your ACM works here too.
And of course it has momentum.Things happens.

greetings!

Daddy, why don't you catch a ferry over to Mulkiteo, and I can pick you up and you can try it out at my place.  You can relax in my customized Gameseat, look into a 3d-like 26" fresnel lens, listen to 4-point surround sound and learn to fly the Pony all over again.  She's still a beaut and the community is like WB's 1.11 era.  Friendly, helpful, and above all competitive.

Oh, I still fly WB's, but AH has a special touch that is unmatched at this time.

Right now AH is benifitting from a limitted number of planes.  Back in the Ol' days of WB, the p51 was always available too.

I'm not sure how the new setup works, but Warbirds could only have so many different aircraft in the arena due to memory issues.

It would be nice if HTC could fill us in on their plans for increasing the number of planes available and what will happen when that number grows too large.

I'm hoping for early/late war arenas myself.

Hi Ya Daddy!

Come on and give it a free 2 week test drive.
This game will make a better flyer out of a guy, with your skills you should be a top killer in no time.  Of course, its easy with all the AW dweebs to kill.   :O

I enjoy it, and after getting used to AH, I dont really have any desire to fly brand wb anymore.  Would be great to see you fly with us.
