I have to disagree with you AKdejavu.  The was a time in WB's where we had a choice of over 40 different planes and they could all be used at all times.  problem was that the early wafr stuff never got touched, it was just too outclassed by late war stuff.

Also, the early war/late war seperate arenas has been tried.  The early war arena was nearly always empty...maye a dozen pilots, while the late war arena had 100+.  It's a great idea in principle, but human nature takes over and we all end up wanting the Tim the Toolman Taylor machines.  Souped up and heavily armed.

Actually Hobo, I distinctly remember the announcement that "With the current limitations... this is the last aircraft... blah blah blah".  The rolling planesets started shortly thereafter.

Once again, those limitations may not exist today, I welcome HTC to come in and clarify the situation.

Hi Daddy= nice to see over here

i would consider taking Hobo offer, grab a few beers and spend a day over at his place and fly Aces High

The P51D "Blue Nosed Bastard" is avaiable like all the others in Aces High ,all the time 24/7 a week....we have even got the Macchi 202 and the Typhoon coming in the next update plus two vehicles....which means a start to ground war also.

if your going to try out Aces High then i suggest you give your self 1 to 2 weeks transition to learning a new Flight model....you do lose alot of E in this Sim but fly the P51D like you normally would in Warbirds then im sure you got very little to worry about...hehe maybe flying alittle higher but that easily getting adjusted to

you will find the gunnery much more lethal over here and from ive seen in guncam footage and the amount of rounds fired its pretty close....so go easy on the .50s

your love the hanger......so much configuration to choose from you spend a while thinking what to take up hehe.....you gotta love the drop tanks

if you installed AH on your system then i recommend the Hi-res artwork sure make alot of difference in its eye-candy and spend some time setting up your keys

it is a three sided war here and we got many new changes coming along including a new terrain to take in account the ground war

doesnt matter who you fly for, people from all sides are very friendly and will make sure you get settled in that Daddy's Girl in no time

i think you will enjoy it.....specially that Daddy's Girl would be avaiable when you need her and not waiting nearly 2 weeks to fly her in another brand.......so go on give it a go what have you got to lose?

 http://www.hitechcreations.com/p51d.html

heres a link to give you some info on the P51D on Aces high and at the bottom is some charts and figures that you might find interesting

p.s i believe its your round this time

make it a bourbon hehe

Cya Steve hope to see you in the skies of Aces High very soon

Daddy,
Go ahead and get the AH download and spend a little time with the pony offline.
get a little altitude, set the trim and do a highspeed buzz over the airfield. put her in a 70 degree zoom and wingover just as you hit 100 IAS. make your second pass a bit higher and slower and do a snap roll over the field.
D/L the software and fly offline. no credit card, no commitment, just a little modem time to download. the planes just feel like they are flying here. very responsive. i suspect that you will love it.

Daddy,
I'm a La-5FN driver, but I flew the P-51D recently on one sortie.  It is fast, handles quite well at speed, and has what appears to be the best energy retaining ability in AH.  Oh, and there is nothing faster.  With the view system, SA is excellent.

However, you will have a formidible adversary in the Bf 109G-10.

AkDejavu, you may be very well right there.  I too remember some message to the effect of some limitiations, but I ever associated it with only being able to have X many different planes at one time.  But if that was the case (and it probably was) how is it that we can fly early planes on the last day of a TOD?  Help me out here because I'm probably forgetting something...old age ya know?

<Sorry for getting so far off topic>

Leonid, flew you baby for a while last night...still a riot to play in.
I would say that HTC has done justice both graphicaly and FM wise to all of the aircraft in AH. Hence you will usually see a whide variety of types flown. (exept when JG2 and there Dweebwulfs are arround.... Why not a more refined sheme for the FW while we are on the subject..lookin a bit long in the tooth compared to the others..

Thank you all very much for the info. I admit that curiousity is getting the best of me. I don't really have much time to fly in yet another sim, but I must admit the AH p51 is tempting. Perhaps I shall give my old friend hobo a call.

I know that sometimes I sound like a jerk with my p51 whining. But when it comes down to it, I doubt I would spend much time in any sim if the p51 wasn't around. Kinda obsessive I suppose

Thanks again for the info guys. And btw, awesome pony picture above Gawd she is a nice looking plane.

You know Hobo, it may have been reffering to the limit on aircraft they could have and still allow a 2 meg video card be minimum requirement.  It may have preceded the bumping of that minimum to 4 meg... but I just don't remember it too well either.

I know it had something to do with available memory.  I just can't remember wether it was system or video.

Daddy, as you can see it's got the pretty blue nose.  It flies like it oughta.  The climb and speed curves are posted on the HTC web page (under "In The Game") and they are closer to real life USAAF data than any other sim I've seen.  Also it's got drop tanks, and you can choose 4 or 6 gun loadouts.

Sigi, Jeng summed up the 109 guns nicely.  Don't forget you can carry a drop tank or centerline bomb and wing rockets also.  It's probably the best Me 109 sim I've seen.  The plane has it's strengths (acceleration, climb, low speed handling, easy stall) and weaknesses (high speed control response) as it oughta.  And again you can check out the climb and speed curves - the variants all have the full performance that they should.

Of course I'm a huge Spit Dweeb over here.
