Testing the software before release? Making sure that customers are capable of running it before they put it into production? Allowing customers to voluntarily help with debugging? Not hyping revolutionary new features that will make every other software obsolete as the result of a new change?

Wouldn't that be a very major change? (to go from one's own 3D geometry engine over to using the accelerated 3D of GeForces via D3D) Sure would be nice tho! Would then be able to up the number of polygons in the planes and terrains.
