Gawd; I hope NOT!

Jeeze... one of the things that frosted my ; ahh.. um well; all that brand W crap is history.. or will be soon. Anyway RPS wuz a major incentive for me to toss in the towel over at the second runner-up's shop.

For 29.9 georges per month; I want the plane I prefer to fly ready and available to fly when I'm itchin to fly. I don't wanna have to scroll down a list of 'eeeewww.. yucko' dismal second class airframes to fly in an open arena just because some smoes pre-programed server thinks it's December 1940.

I hope they handle this dilema via pre-planed and announced Historical sets and leave the open arena OPEN.

Well in the scenario you are describing (spelling?) there is no need for lets say an p40, zero etc because who will fly em if the _uber_ planes are available all the time. .

Mustang Fight?? LOL.. more like the alphabet 109's are the new top dogs. Not that I'm complaining.. been some damn good fights lately. That FW has some hair on it now too. And that Macchi.. lord-a-mighty; thank keeerist they never got around ta makin that thing in big numbers.

In short, flyin the P51 is no cuppa tea in the current beta enviornment, and hey; that's kool. And I'm not whining about any of the other rides. The deal: Yah pays yer money; yah takes yer plane; yah takes yer chances.

Just don't tell me I can't fly my prefered plane in an open arena for three weeks outta the month because some guy is annoyed a P51D is somewhere in the sim. And THAT's the issue.

Djust "talked" with HT in the arena about varius things, he said that he needs more planes before an RPS can be implemented and this of course makes sence. . .

I suggested that they could only implement an RPS in an HA arena and then the MA folks would be happy too, and HT was not _against_ it (his words said hehe. . .)

Heya all

Hangtime, I know you love your flying cadilac... so do I

But I would love to have the RPS... I think I heared HT saying that aditional servers are not going to be around very soon so... no RPS would mean that the early war planes don't get a chance

Natedog and Superfly can turn out the most beautiful planes... but only the middle to late warplanes would be flown since only those give you at least a minimal chance of getting home alive... not that I would get home even in a dora

I for one would love to fly some of the early sweets like the hurricane, zero, ME109E, DW520, Buffalo ... crazy finns

and

Yup.. have no objection to RPS as long as we ALSO have an open arena (emphasis on OPEN) where all the planes are available any time.

The fellows who wanna fly RPS style can fly the HA or on a second/third server.... and everybody's happy.

One of the neat things about an open arena is the ability to find anything; fly anything; fight anything.. any time in any circumstances. a smorgasboard.   I know that some insist that the eary war types have no place or no chance with the late war types.. but I can still remember using the zeke and spit5 and Hurri for field defense against Dora's and Stangs.. never mess with a kite without some help close by.

Who would deny that even the late war stuff can easily be outflown by a kite pilot that knows his plane?

I suspect we'll get some period of no RPS possible due to HTC server availability.. I'm thinkin they'll go with an Open; part-time HA and eventually a RPS system; hopefully on a third server.

In Brand W; they were 'by the hour".. if yah didn't like the plane set offered.. don't fly; and don't pay. Here it's gonna be flat rate.. and for the AC to be limited in accessibilty means I'm payin for the whole month.. have my plane less than half.. Makes a good deal a whole lot less good.

I appreciate all your ideas and opinions...

I know that with a flatrate it's marketing wise not a good thing to deny certain people their right to fly the plane they love so dearly.

I know that eventualy there will be a HA where people like me can get our pleasure flying the dewoitine 520, hurri, ki43, zero, etc.

Of course I know that it's more a matter of flying marksmanship then the plane's abilities. Jantie (a friend from brand w) flew hurri2's till the F6F kicked off and then flew it till the end of RPS and doing rather nicely with it... He got his butt kicked alot but he sure surprised alot of spitdweebs and even the occational FW butcher

BUT... what if the HA doesn't work out like it should (take the HA and Scenario lights in WB for example)...

I could fly a .... ( insert your choise pick early warbird here) in the open arena. Let's see what would happen to even the best experten around... you wouldn't be able to catch anybody... even the B26 can outspeed you and wave at you saying bye bye... only a complete dork would die at your hands in his Dora9, spitXIV, 109K4, pony or p38J since they are all energy fighters....  you wouldn't be able to get alt... since most early warplanes have a ceiling to laugh at... etc... etc... etc... sigh

Another aspect is the newbie-factor. As most dweebs I started out TnBing till I'd drop, sooner then later  , but I started early in the RPS and it didn't harm me that much as say starting in the 44-45 season of the RPS. As I see it most newbies would come in take a spit and rush in at every plane they can turn&burning while most planes flown would be energyfighters... talk about a rapid drop in motivation to come and play

I know I'm in a no win situation here... so I'll rest my case and continue to fly my, also beloved, f4 or pony...

Just my honest opinion guys ...

Greetings
