Kill in reverse?
« on: August 15, 2004, 10:19:26 AM »
I have been taking the new changes with a grain of salt.I personally didn't care for the method choosen to correct the numbers, ganging situation, but I can live with it.I'm not so sure the community can.I know a lot of people have said they will close accounts,I don't have access to the actual numbers of people that have, but any loss of players to me,because of changes in the game, are very negative to the community.I chose to fly the P38 mainly, and I guess they don't consider it  much of a threat,;) ,so no problem flying it when I want to.I can see where the people that fall within the criteria of being not being able to fly their favorite ride, would be aggravated,as I would If I couldn't fly the P38.
Ok enough of that.About the new collision, debris killing you after shooting someone.I would suggest with the utmost urgency, that it be fixed quickly,as it isn't fair to have to get in close for good shot---new gunnery mode requires this, and then have the victim get the kill by hitting your plane with his debris.I believe the collision, ram mode should be nearly zero,as the HO's ain't gonna stop, and and one shouldn't be penalized for making good;close in gun solution.I'm not trying to be whiney,or start a flame.I think HT has done good job on AH2.My system now is basically playing AH without any studders, freeze, etc, but I'm not sure I could enjoy playing the game as it now stands much longer.Honestly I don't know what I'd do for flying,as I I liked AH as well as any of the Sims I've flown, and I've flown them all.I hope they get on this one soon.

I'm tappin some old brain cells here, but I think Hartman's plane(s) were never hit by enemy fire, yet he lost 16 due to collisions with debris of enemy aircraft.  If the greatest ace ever had a problem with debris, why shouldn’t we?

one, this isnt WW2.
two, how many kills did he have vs hitting debris?  (a ratio)
because, last five flights ive had, all ended to collsions of some sort.  5 for 5 isnt a good ratio at all, so unless he only had 16 sorties to go with those 16 collsions, that example you gave is kinda moot(-10 spelling) isnt it?  im not saying not have them, but it is a bit overboard as it is right now.  i do fly 38 pretty much exclusively, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Hartmann had 35o some kills so a minimum of that many fights and had to ditch or bail 18 times, with  majotiy but not all of them due to flying into enemy debri due to his method of measuring 'feet'(preferrable 50 feet) before shooting not yards!!!!/any thing over 100 yds gravity will make debri drop at least 20ft id say so  we shouldnt be colliding with it unless we dive after   a kill. ALso Hartmann had over 1000 CAP's.

Eskimo, I read the book, and yes he was hit by flying debris often. He stated, fill your wind screen with the enemy, and then get closer, and shoot. I'm just trying to say that for us virtual pilots, the collision, debris, problem shouldn't be. I mean you can be over realistic a sim to the point that it isn't fun anymore, and I'd be willing to bet HT didn't mean for the patch to have this effect.
