I'm afraid it is your system, you are running nearly twice as much computer as me (except processor) and I never go below 34 FPS no matter what.

You have more system memoryl...  I'm not sure how your card compares with the FX5700 128meg, which I am running, but I would assume yours is superior.

Are you running apps in the sysTray?  Messenger, various unneeded silly print monitors etc?

Something is most assuredly wrong with that machine if it can't push decent frames with the sliders set as you are describing.  My ground detail is at 3 miles, and all the other sliders are at about 2/3rds full detail.

I run 1600x1200.

Do some diags, something is not right in that thing.

Kurt even if you're right, maybe this would be a boon for those who have more marginally spec'ed systems?

Another thing to look at, is to be sure you're Microsoft Indexing service is DISABLED... This punk application kicks off at all sorts of awful times and ruins your machine's performance until it gets done looking at all your files.  95% of people don't need this service anyhow... Do a search on Microsofts site (or on the net in general) to find out how to shut this processor hog off...

You mean the ability to turn off clutter?

The important thing to remember is that it isn't clutter anymore... Its real stuff you can crash into... In AH1 the trees were just visual and meant nothing...  Shutting them off meant nothing...

In AH2, shutting them off would mean that you are crashing into objects you can't see, AND would give you an unfair advantage against GV's that are using the real trees for Cover or Concealment.

So, off will never be an option...

Considering the human eye really can't distinguish much above 30Fps, I'm not sure I understand what the problem is.

I bet if you turn off the video statistics and stop worrying so much about it (I suggest that to pretty everyone by the way) you would probably find that its perfectly comfortable.

There is way too much framerate obcession in all gaming (not just AH).  Above 30 is just more... It's kinda like how above 100 degrees is just too freakin hot outside, 100 118, 120, don't matter at all.. Just too hot.

Eyes only go about 30.  :)

Everything above that is just bragging rights.

Yes anything above 25 is just over kill, but the human eye can tell between 75 and 40 tho, thats why its nice to have a constant fr.   Blix just turn the view distance down if it gets really choppy. I usually get about 17 over a base with planes flying around, if i turn the view distance to minimum with shift f3 it gets abour 25, which is plenty.

Well, I can tell you that without the video stats running most people don't react to frame rate until it gets under 20, thats when people start to actually perceive that something is wrong (assuming they can't see the frame rate display)
