I knew beforehand it would happen to me in the BoB scenario.. and thus here I am to whine err ask

what's up with that!? hehe

A picture is worth a thousand words and without further ado here's the film
Is such a non-recoverable spin realistic for a spitfire?
This happens to me very often in the Spit I and i can reproduce it everytime.. (hence the film).
Anyone in-the-know please clue me up

To respect Delirium's request I haven't looked at the file. But I think I know what's happened in the film.

I'm betting you pulled the stick hard dodge bullets, and kicked the rudder hard at the same time.. which swung your Spitfire 180 degrees and made it enter a flat spin.

...

In that case, try turn off the engine - that usually enables the plane to get out of the flat spin, and regress into a normal spin .. which then, you can pull out of.

It's not a BoB-Film

The effect is easy to reproduce though:

Fly straight up and wait for airspeed to bleed, hold the plane vertical. Instead of doing a hammerhead hold it vertical as long as you can. After flying backwards for a brief period the plane enters a non recoverable spin, tail first, jumping up and down without any forward movement.

The AH2 Spit I will do this from 30k right into the ground without hope of recovering.
This behaviour (which can happen easily during a heated dogfight as well) seems to contradict the non-clipped wing Spitfire's reputation of having a gentle stall behaviour.
