UH-1 kills in Vietnam
« on: August 16, 2004, 09:16:58 PM »
Just read that UH-1s downed two AN-2s during the Vietnam War.  Can anyone tell me more about this?

Why not?  He may know!
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

AN-2 not a fighter..or very fast as far as I know...a door gunner could take one out if he got lucky.

I did some searching...

Could find nothing on google. But I do remember hearing about AH-1 Cobra's, not UH-1 Hueys, downing some Colts near the end of American Invlovment.

I know for certain that A-1 Skyraiders claimed MiG17's in combat at least three times during the war, Its quite possible they shot down a AN2 down in Laos or N.Vietnam on a Rescue Mission.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

I believe a Marine UH-1 door gunner got a MIG in VN.

Good Link Dnil.

Crazy Spooks, wonder where they were at when they shot them down.

Apparently it's credited to be robust and reliable due to it's capability to reliably operate under severe weather conditions, like artic.

However Discovery Channel is very keen to mark things "most " when something simply claims was .
