The game producers always miss those little cool things that would make their games perfect.

I really dont know why they intentionally screw up games at times.

There is no reason to leave the ship, really. It's not like you can walk around the space stations or anything.

I believe there are games with that feature...

FWIW, player count on Eve averages between 6000 - 10000 on any given night. They're doing okay.
