A new `When`question, and it is a big one too !
« on: October 25, 1999, 03:18:00 PM »
When will AH move beyond WB in plane numbers, 1 year, 2 years, never ?

Oh, hehe, maybe in two weeks ?

Yes I know, big numbers of planes does not have to make the game better, but still, I like to have lots of planes to choose from.

Lasse,
When questions are never answered...however, it takes less time to design these planes with the format they are using than it does in some of the other sims that use painted 2d cockpits. Since the cockpit we see is designed at the same time the airframe is, time between planes will be greatly reduced.

Remember also, that there are going to be trains to blow up, tanks to mess around with and other objects and the strat system isn't complete yet. We do need more than planes for a good game but like you I wait with bated breath for the next ones to come out.

See this as an opportunity to get real familiar with a few at a time. You may not wish to fly all of them and may have a favorite plane but it will give you good insight into the strengths and weaknesses of your opponents when they choose one of the others.

Jekyll,
Nice list, didn't see the B-26 in there. I would also like to not see so many variants of the same aircraft. I would like to see the ones that made the most impact or are the coolest for one reason or another. For example, the Spit IX and the XIV and not the other two, the Hurricane II only etc.

but PLEASE leave out the JETs in main arena set ups and put them in for rolling plane sets.

You're right of course Verm.

A non-jet 1946 planeset would be absolutely wonderful

The best piston engined fighters ever built duke it out in the Aces High skies.

P.S.  you forgot the P51-H

You forgot the late 1939 setup or is that no longer considered part of the early war? This includes the Polish airplanes and the early versions of the He111, Do17, Ju 87a, 109c-d, and of course everything the Poles threw at them. There are also the A5M,Ki-27 and various other Japanese planes which went against the AVG group in China...and many many others. Personally I just don't think its possible to modeal all these planes for a few years to come. Someday though

Jekyll,
nice try, but this way you dont allow the very best of dogfights. I mean the FW190A2/4 has to fly some time with the SpitMkV, as well as the 109F.

The C200 is a 1940-41 a/c but the C202 enter the war during late 1941. The 205 during the early part of 1943.

Whats about the P38J. Please no uber-P38L here too early!

Regards,
Gatt

They are very good gliders, but they try to do clever acrobatics and looping. They will stick it even if things are going against them, whereas the Jerries will run.

And not to mention Buffalo Brewster model 239, with finnish markings! And I wouldn't mind the 109G having finnish markings either

Jup, Mark Luper, I know `When`questions never is answered but I just had to try

I wanted people to start guessing for how long it will take, and maybe if I was very very lucky, maybe even Pyro or HiTech puts in a guess too, cause I doubt anyone have the slightest clue of how long time it will take to produce such large numbers of planes.

But I am however pretty shure that in X years from now, AH will have more planes than WB, and with a higher quality.

At least I hope so
