Sad day for the Dog
« on: March 18, 2000, 09:40:00 PM »
Ive copied this over from the 357th BB. Reason i post it here, is because Zeus is the reason i have the handle Wardog.

We will run under the Squad name 357th Pitbull Express for a week or two in his memory..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Greets all..

After 2 weeks of losing weight and slowing down,my little friend Zeus is on his last legs. Got back from holidays 2 weeks ago to see he had lost weight. He stopped eating altogether a week ago. Yesterday he had a seizure on the evevator after his walk.

Brought him into the vet and they found a large cancer tumor in his stoach, this cancer has spread to his lungs & brain. The reason for the seizure. The vet figures he might have 2 weeks left in him. Seeing the pain he is in i have decided to put him down next week sometime.

Ive been his human for 11 years and we had been through tough times. He is the reason i have carried the Handle Wardog through AW DOS,Warbirds, and AH.

I might do a sortie or 2 to take my mind off of things. But i will not be flyin at par. My mind just aint thinkin strait. If ya say hi & im on,dont get upset if i dont reply,it will be because im not really paying attention.

I prolly wont fly much for the next week or so,its going to be hard looking over my shoulder to see an empty blanket.

I do intend to replace him this year some time, but out of the 4 American Pitbull Terriers ive owned,he was the best..

Cyas up.

Wardog & Zeus =357th Pitbull Expess=

<S> My Best Friend!

I only can say that I am sorry, wardog  . I've grown up with dogs near me and I truly know how does it hurt when you lose those little big friends. But you must go on and keep on living...get a puppy if you want, or wait if that is your desire...but believe me that the best way to heal your pain is to get another pal and see it grow up...and remember the best days with Zeus, not the sad last ones...

<S>, wardog ,and <S> to Zeus. Is hard when such a friend leaves, but I'm sure he doesn't want to see you in such pain when he departs...remember the good days...and think in the next little bud you`ll get   Nothing heals at all such lose...but for sure you'll have another wonderful "wardog" in your house soon

Hmmmm, sorry for the loss Wardog, but hats off to you for putting him down. This one hits home in a big way.

My Dad is a Vet and for all my childhood instead of fixin planes I helped fix dogs and cats. I never really liked it, and the hardest part was seeing grown men break down in the office as Dad was preparing the “ Black Needle”.  It was really hard, I'll never forget it. Pets are cool stuff, and the bond goes deep, I sure know.

Thing is, I knew from talking to Dad that it wasn’t bad at all putting the hurt animal down. It was in fact the kindest gesture in the final days that you could do.

You say a lot about yourself  by putting him down quickly. It means that you care so much about your pet, you put his pain above your pain of loss, and I know as bad as it hurts you, it hurts the animal so much more to keep them alive. You dealt with it, that's pretty hard.

Surley the memories of him happy is better than the dragging the final days out seeing him in pain.

This is kinda off-sim topic, but I relate and hope I kinda helped in a small way.

Peace,

Creamo

I'm so sorry, Wardog.  I know how you feel.  Animals are so much more than pets.  They're companions.  You'll be in my thoughts - as will Zeus.
