ill point out i shot the engine out of the 109 before i started recording. and was not a proxie.

and didnt get a proxy for the IL2 becuase i never fire a round off at him, he even tryed for the old ho:lol

I watched it from the IL2 looks like he just stalled it. I don't see the head on in that situation as a big deal. You recognized what was about to happened and easily avoided it.

IL2s are great for HOing. Those 23mm are fantastic.

IL2 is one of the best emergency figters in teh game and certinly one of the best, if not the best, all around base defense planes..

I use it as such. It is tough and has a leathal gunpackage. Too slow and climbs very poorly, but it turns OK. Considering it is a ground attack bird it does pretty well at air-to-air combat.

As to the HO whine in the opener. It's an Il-2, what the heck is it supposed to do? You expect him to just nicely die for you? When your in such an aircraft you go for any and all shots you can generate. The HO takes advantage of both the Il-2's firepower and durability. I'll take any HO I can get when I'm in an Il-2.

I give it a 7.6 for the Double-Inverted Half Gainer. That IL2 is not a light bird.

What was the point of this thread? To brag, complain, whine or ....???? There seems to be a lot of "I'm great see... he was a putz" in this BBS. If this was one of them then save it. If it had another purpose (did it stall or not??) then I apologize. I'm sure I've broken rules 2, 7, 8 or others

Flown correctly the IL-2 is a devastating plane, both AtG AND AtA. Get her fast and she can turn with the best of them. Weapons are fantastic! You just have to do it right, and especially know when it's time to leave. The HO is not a required tactic in the IL-2, or even needed. Unless, you take off to defend a capped base.... thats just foolish.
