I think the two dots in the filename are the problem there.  I don't know how critical the format is for H2H, but maybe try motdhth.txt?  I think any name should work, though, as long as it is in your AH2 directory and has the .txt extension.  :)

Should be motd.h2h.txt if I remember correctly from the last time this was asked

I assume this is for a H2H room?

The problem is when you log on, if there is an existing MOTD it downloads it as you log on. Therefor overwriting what you just changed.

The easy way is as follows.

Log on, alt tab to desktop, leaving AH running, go to your AH Dir, open MOTD.txt.

Edit it, Save it, alt tab back into AH & upload it.

Easiest for me at least, to stick with the straight   " MOTD.txt"

This should work with no problems.

The only thing you did wrong was leaving the txt at the end it should be motd.h2h

:(   I've tried all the suggestions except the one from GOHSTH, The reason I can't try that is because after I alt tab to desktop, when I alt tab to come back, all I get is a white screen with the red bar across the top that says aces high. I get no picture at all, I then need to control-alt-delete & reopen AH2.
Well, any more ideas, I got to be doing something wrong. I see other H2H sites with motds. I can't believe It won't display for me.
I can build or modify computers like a pro, but I'm not very good @ operating them-- I need step by step instructions for a beginner.

One thing that bothers me though, in the instructions, it says to save the moto in the "install folder", as far as I can see - one does not exist. When I right click on my AH2 icon - click properties - click find target ---- everything comes up, folders, snapshots, read me files etc.(this is where I save my MOTDs after writing them in notepad) but no FOLDER titled install.

        Thanks

when you alt-tab out then re-enter you say you get a white screen, try clicking the windows key ( key between Ctrl and Alt key) once you click this key move cursor to the task bar and click AcesHigh2  again a second time, this should bring the game back up on the screen with in a second or 2.

the install folder is actually the C:\HTC\aceshighII folder or the C:\programfiles\HTC\aceshighII folder, depending on how you set the game up.

also naming the MOTD  motd.h2h sounds wrong  .h2h is a file extension and I don't thing aceshigh would recognize it.  try it as motdh2h.txt or h2h.txt or motd.txt    h2h.txt might not work though since it does not mention motd.

you can go into the officers club and change this also I believe,  in the game, once you upload the text you have typed & saved, try hitting the refresh button.

The Instal folder is the folder that AH is installed into.

In short where you find the AH.exe, and all the other stuff.

All you have to do is create a text file in your HTC\Aces High II folder, write your message in it, and save it as motd.h2h, DO NOT LEAVE THE .TXT ON IT. No other steps or needed. You don't need to set motd after you start the game and you don't need to alt tab out of the game.

ok zmeg,

I tryed this, and all I keep getting is a lock up, why, I do not know, but  I tryed the mtod.h2h and everytime it locks me up to a  ctrl-alt-del I can not even alt tab out.  I gave up on it......( think it is because of my pc or my DSL connection, not sure why the DSL would lock the game up though, maybe to do with my firewall)

I leave this one for you  H2H pros! :D
