I think, dont take my word on it, that you just take your skin and stretch it to 1024x1024. You're probably going to have to ask the pros (like cit or greebo) about it, but I think thats how it can be done.

In Adobe Photoshop hit Image, then hit Image Size.  It will have a window pop up where you can change the resolution for your skin there.  You'll need to repaint your skin though because stretching the 256x256 file that large will cause it to look like crap.

I can tell you right now that if you take a 256x256 texture, and scale it to 1024x1014, your submission will be rejected because the texture will look terrible.

Err, it's not that hard to make it look better.

When you make the bitmap, open up a new file (in Photoshop) that is 1024x1024.  Take the selection marquee, select the old 256 thing and copy it.

Now, paste it onto the new one and place it in the upper left corner.  Scale it (in the edit menu), and hold shift to drag it to the lower right corner.  Hit enter and PS should fill in and Antialias what you did.

Lasersailor,
scaling = interpolating
interpolating = blurry
blurry = bad
bad = won't be accepted

Best, you can maybe save some of the solid color stuff by scaling it, but the panel lines, the rivets, the markings... you're really better off just starting over and chalking it up to "live and learn".

open the image, go to Image>size then change it from 256 to 1024. Then, at the bottom of the window, change resize mode from Bicubic to "nearest neighbor," then hit OK.

This method will keep the image from becomming "fuzzy" when you make it bigger.

Panel lines, howevver, will not be 4 pixels wide instead of 1, so you will need to re do all the panel lines to make them 1 pixel (or 2 pixels if they consist of a 1 pixel panel line and a 1 pixel highlight)
