Coke is Coca-Cola. Period end of story.

Coke is NOT  Pepsi, Orange Crush or any of the other aformentioned brands.

a Pop is frozen flavored sugar water on a stick.
OR  something you do to a cherr..... oh nevermind

Actually Pop is another generic term for soda.
Typically called Pop by hicks because of the sound the old style bottles used to make when you "popped" the cap off

Plus its much easier to say since most only have one tooth

And to say "soda" would sound like "Thoda"

so they say "Pop"
:)
spot on chap!

i was too lazy to type something exactly like that all out.

"other" sodawater, sodapop, fountain drink, carbonated beverage... have heard all those used in odd arse places.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Haven't thought about that in years.

In Texas it's all Coke. There are different flavors, Dr.Pepper, Orange, Sprite, ect., but you must specify or you will get Coke-Cola. That's what my Granddad taught me when I was a wee lad.

In Houston, it's Coke for Cola.

In Pittsburgh, Pop is for Cola, and Soda is restricted to the unflavored carbonated water.

lol reminds me of a funny story ; a friend's Dad took a case of Cheerwine with him on a trip to NY City, knowing Yankees ain't got none. he got pulled for 2 mph over speed limit in NY. cop arrested him for hauling the case of Cheerwine.  told him hauling alcohol is illegal or something like that.  guy tried to tell the cops but they threw him in jail overnight. next day cops felt like total fools they were. locking a guy up overnight for hauling a case of softdrinks.  :rofl :rofl :rofl

OK, so yeah, I live in Arkansas, so maybe this wont be much of a suprise, but ....True Story:

I was workin with a kid just out of high school here, and it was a hot day, I says," I'm gonna grab a soda....you want a Coke?"

He reaches for change and says, "yeah"

So, jokin around I ask, "what kind?"

He looks up, says,

"Dr. Pepper"
:p

Oh, a map!  Yeah, I'm in one of those 80-100% coke counties
