At a restaraunt in Mississippi:

Waitress: "What would you like to drink?"
Me: "A coke"
Waitress: "What kind? We have coke, diet coke, dr pepper, 7-up and orange."

Interesting how it changes at the Oregon - California border. Terrain and people are very similar up there.

If you degenerates in Kalifornia call it soda, then pop is definitely the proper term. ;)

There are two ways to say it:

1) You can call it Pop

2) Or you can say it another way and be  wrong!

:D

We tend to use "soda" in the Navy as a neutral term..and you can see it's "soda" in the tidewater area (biggest Naval consentration in the world)

But back home it's all COKE !

I say Soda, but everyone in my area says Pop.
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

That chart is wrong for Fremont CA, we call it Coke around these parts. As it should be called everywhere.

Its really quite simple.

Soda is a generic term for all flavored carbonated drinks.

Coke(tm) , Pepsi, Dr Pepper, Orange Crush, Mountain Dew

Are all types of Soda.

Coke is Coca-Cola. Period end of story.

Coke is NOT  Pepsi, Orange Crush or any of the other aformentioned brands.

a Pop is frozen flavored sugar water on a stick.
OR  something you do to a cherr..... oh nevermind

Actually Pop is another generic term for soda.
Typically called Pop by hicks because of the sound the old style bottles used to make when you "popped" the cap off

Plus its much easier to say since most only have one tooth

And to say "soda" would sound like "Thoda"

so they say "Pop"
:)

Just looking at the map.

Never heard of ordering an "other"

Anyone ever go into a diner and say "can I have a glass of "other" please
