Weazel,

 What does ALT/F4 do??
Rock:  Ya see that Ensign, lighting the cigarette?
Powell: Yes Rock.
Rock: Well that's where I got it, he's my son.
Powell: Really Rock, well I'd like to meet him.
Rock:  No ya wouldn't.

Pressing ALT-F4 in any windows application closes the program.  Doing so in AH results in you vanishing from the game, similar to a network disconnection.

WOW!  That's how it is done.  Numerous time I  have gotten many pings on a target and it just disappeared with no kill notification!

Isn't is a bother to re-log on again? Just take your beating, get killed, and re-plane!

Oh well!

In "Brand W" you get the kill if you hit the guy before he alt+F4's.

I think it would help if we knew who the reds where, is there no way to ID them?
I know its not realistic but neither is stick stiring and alt/f4ing.

Anyone consider the consequences of tar'n'feathering somebody when the disco is authentic? I've discoed numerous times, and have on occassion been on the wrong end of somebody else's guns when it happened.
I'd hate to be branded as a cheat under those circumstances ... but once accused, who is going to believe the excuse, even if it is valid?
As for stick stirring, I understand that spiking can make that happen. I've had my Saitek combo become inoperable. Is that what happens when 'stick stirring'?

In the end we should be more circumspect in calling someone a cheat. If someone cheats, it's their loss of honour, but only they will know that. I say, if someone disappears, then give the benefit of the doubt and move on, because the winner knows they've won.

Cheers
Teapot.

hmmm.... it should be possible for it to be coded that the ALT+F4 first sends serve info before the program close.

also kill stealing seems to be out of hand... I lost 6 kills out of 9 yestarday to people attacking the planes that I sent falling to the ground wingless or v stab ect. the most annoying one was I cleared one guys 6 he hard loops and augers shooting and the 1 winged plane. whats with you guys? thats like picking a fight with someone in a wheel chair!

Good thinking Aircat!

But remember there are valid uses for Alt+F4.  I have used it when WB locks up or when I get a beacon that is obviously going to end my session.

Teapot-

Agreed on the issue of calling someone a cheater- there are no doubt cheaters in every game, but to label anyone a cheater without definitive, irrefutable proof only divides a community.

Aircat-

Welcome to gang-banging. Sadly, this is gonna happen every time you have 5-10 guys chasing one con. Grab some alt, range out alone a bit (or with a wingman) and pick your victims a little higher up in a furball, or even away from the furball. Anytime you drop into the middle of the furball, consider any kills you get to be "shared".

Weazel-

Some guys just can't stand to lose, and they let their egos make them do things they shouldn't. Maybe you didn't get the "kill" officially, but you still had the fun of waxing the guy, and if he chooses to exit the game, you also cost him a few minutes relogging. Besides I wouldn't allow some numbers on a scoreboard determine my level of fun.

It's a simple bit of code, and the addition of a little bit that tells whether the guy used the keystroke rather than simply disappearing due to beacon difficulty is a great idea.

Expose these punks for the egotistical cowards they are.

And for those in funked's shoes, having beacon problems, etc. just put in a distance caveat: if you're undamaged and not within "fighting distance", no one is awarded the kill.  But if you've been damaged, that person gets the kill. If undamaged and within "fighting distance" the closest con gets the kill.

I Think HTC will be doing it so that you'll be credited of guy who discos/alt-F4s, as they first do maneuver kills etc. stuff also.
...not to forget guys bailing before you hit them.

I believe they will be adding score credits of those as time comes, but I do wish also that they give some kind of credits from ditched birds as well.

I do hunt alone and solo when possible. the instance I cleared the persons 6 I was at 23k hunting and a 51 zoom hi 10 to low 2 like a poodle with its tail on fire... I dived to investigate and found he had dove on a 51 at about 5k (still trying to figure out how the hi bandit saw him there). as for the others they was falling through furballs like a leaf half plane missing and these guys instead of killing threats was taking time to feed on these like I had tossed fresh meat in a pirana tank.

as for the alt+f4 it wouldnt be hard to realy implement have it mapped as a none changeable key that TRIES to send a message prior to closing. if your connect is realy going out then the message would not be sent. if yellow or green it will be.

Ah! Understood! I saw some of that too... well, that is never gonna change, is it? I try to move on to other planes as soon as I break one bad enough to crash (saves ammo) but there will always be those that will take any opportunity given.
