1993 AW Con Pic
I wasn't there, and I have NO clue how I got this, but I though some may like.
(Image removed from quote.)

Holy hell! I was 15 at the time, and suckered my old man into driving me down for the convention. Saw a bunch of old dudes and was like "hell nah" and we drove back to GA LOL

Wasnt there a P51 cockpit in the main room?

Wow! I had no idea you were *that* old, Brooke!   ;)

Me, I started my online life with War Birds, in March 1997. Joined up with Fletch and JG54 "Greenhearts" squadron for the "Scenario Lite" weekly historical-ish fights. Good times.

A snappy Salute! to all the oldtimers lurking in here.  :salute

Still around since Air Warrior 1988 rank #527 out of 596.  Woot!

In 1988, a Big Mac cost $2.

Not sure how I missed these replies. Musta been working.
I was 29 in 89.

I think I do recall hearing of the cockpit, wasn’t there to see it tho.

I was perusing an old site on the Wayback Machine and stumbled upon a RR European map and boy...the memories came flooding back.

The more I looked at the map, the more I remembered how my Bz were purely defensive in nature. In the 4+ years I played AW2/AW3, every B airfield had been captured by both Az and Cz. Meanwhile, on the Bz, we were lucky if we could capture the forward bases (GRE, GRA, CEN, MOG, ASS, GROK). Every once in awhile, we'd get FUB, SLY, or OWL, or SOL.

Although, despite that, there was the one moment in the fall of 1999 when we did the unexpected: we actually captured White Cat. Capturing an HQ never happened before and I don't think it ever happened since (although we tried taking Jenny once).

The other thing I remember was how underutilized the other arenas were. The Pacific arena was almost always empty; at most, I played with 5-6 folks in there at a time. Such a shame; it had so much potential. WWI had a few squadrons that liked to play out of there; same with Korea, but nowhere close to enough to keep it interesting.

I think it got a little better once we migrated over to GameStorm in early 2000, but that could be my mind playing tricks on me.

Flew AirWarrior from Genie, in Armageddon with Hornet, -Elf-, TCO,.. to name a few

Tail number 3757, then HlyWd when the game evolved to support that.

Got mad when AW shut down and played Starcraft for years, then WOW, then finally back to the virtual skies with AH2. Glad I did.

All old AW players should play in the October scenario.

Scenarios started in Air Warrior, and they live on today.  Play for the days of yore!  :aok

Air Warrior was where I flew my first scenario. I believe it was Coral Sea. I was a walk on, and of course wanted a fighter, but no fighter slots were available. I think I was assigned to an SBD, but wouldn't swear to it. I did have a guy assigned to the plane that was willing to ride as a gunner. (wish I could remember his handle). It really wasn't what I had planned on doing, but I figured I would give it a go for at least one sortie. For those that don't know we had to communicate through the text buffer, there wasn't any vox, or at least none that was within my reach. The two of us had a blast. We flew the whole scenario, and iirc we switched sides halfway through, but staying in the same type plane. ie, dive bomber, torpedo bomber, or fighter.

I've been hooked on scenarios ever since. I should be there in October Brooke.  :salute

Now see, they had the opposite effect on me. I flew in one with JBkid, LPN, and a few other "Mafia" types and JB was lead in our divebombers. It was just OK for me, maybe the lack of voice communication had something to do with it but I could just never get into it. I tried a couple more but it just wasnt for me. Thats probably why you see me dying in the MA so much. I just cant resist jumping into a fight! Outnumbered, under an enemy cap, flying through enemy ack, it doesnt matter Im after a fight NOW! LOL! AW had small maps and it was alway easy to get killed..... err find a fight  :)
