I've had this pic for a while and I'm wondering what plane this is from. Can someone let me know?

I would venture to say that too, but didnt the early model B-17s have a ventral turret such as that too?

IL-4 or SM-79?  Some sort of early featherweight ventral.

Might be a B24.  In some cases, in particular when operating from Pacific airfields where it might get muddy. they did away with the ball turret and had a "tunnel gun" in that position in a similar fashion.

The more 'slab sided' look to the fuselage makes me think so.  Too big inside for an A20  and the early 17s had a "tub' under the fuselage for that gun.

Concur, the B-24C. The D model had the ball turret fitted.

Found this image of a B24D that shows the side windows that can be seen in the original photo.  They don't seem to show up on later model B24s so I suppose they were leftover from the earlier versions.

Seems to confirm it's a 24.  You can see someone standing at the waist gun in the earlier picture and it seems to be the same distance behind this guy that the waist window is to the lower windows in the image here.

The D model had a ball turret which replaced the hand-held mg in the model C. Both had the windows as in the pic.
