how many times did you diconnect last night
« on: February 11, 2001, 02:21:00 AM »
hello all:

so how many times do you disconnect in a night. for my self it is around four to five times a night before I say to hell with it.
and I wounder how much longer before I say to hell with it all together and drop my account. for $30 a month, HTC could atleast get a server that works. and dont bother with the well gee with online sims you have to expect it to happen. well not four or five times a night I dont. and by all means go to the score page and check the stats, it will say I have discoed only a few times, but it will also say I flew a chog 100 or so times in tour 12. well I think 100 or so, it says I died in a chog 100 or so times and had 50 kills in a chog. and I dont fly the chog as I can not fight in it.

so how many times do you get the boot in a night, and do you think it is to often.

p.s.

I dont know where I found the stats for the chog sorties I did not fly, but I did see them a week or so ago, but now I cant find where it was, so disregard the chog part of the post.

Wolf37.. that's how many times you killed and were killed by CHOGs... 50:112.

As far as the discos go.. wasn't on last night.  But can't remember the last time I was on and the server reset.  Its been a couple weeks at least.

Maybe your problems are more net related?  If so, would you please identify a way for HTC to help you with this problem.  Once you do that, share it with the entire on-line gaming community.. we'd all love to hear it.

Im on DSL and the ONLY time I Disco is when the arena gets resett. It looks like they fixed that bug so its been a very long time since I discoed. You might want to look into a better way to get onto the net. What are you on an ISP, Cable, DSL?

LLB OUT!!!!!!!

Wolf37: before you start accusing HTC having a crappy server, please run a full traceroute with complete ping times to each and every node. When my connection gets crappy, its 99% of the time a problem somewhere between HTC servers and my computer. You can blame HTC only if the 2 last nodes in your connection have a huge pingtime compared to the others.

I connect from europe and it bugs me to hell to see that within europe I get ~30ms ping times, jump around the big water I get 100ms more.. But then the SPRINT network comes to play.. and all of the sudden ping times vary from 220 to 1220! lol

Sometimes nodes wont respond at all. I've learned to hate the word sprint on my trace program. And that is something HT can't control very easily.

About 80% of my network problems have been caused by sprintlink this or that node. Either there's to much p0rn surfers at states or then sprint just doesn't know how to scale its networking correctly.

Wolf-

I went through this at iEN. I understand your problem, but...

You do have to understand that it might very well be something wrong along the route, or even your ISP itself. I know this because that is what happened to me. The fact is that the entire country, indeed the world, is not uniform in its implementation of phone lines, servers, routers, etc.

It doesn't help to hear that it is probably your choice of ISP, but 99% of the time that is the truth. Directly addressing your problem, I have been dumped once in two weeks. At iEN that is more like 5 times a night. Clearly I have a better path to Texas than to North Carolina.

I do understand though that it is aggrivating to hear what I have to tell you, but that is most likely the problem.

Yep I worked for the phone company. I can tell you that most of the time it's your ISP and/or some node(s) in the middle. LOL I wont tell you who I worked for but their attitude about the internet (this was only 3 years ago) was "We are here to provide telephone service". The internet is looked at as secondary. Their not totally wrong. That is there primary task. But if they haven't changed there attitude since I left I imagine they will soon. My brother works in the cable TV industry and they are going all out to compete for your phone and internet access. They are revamping their systems all over the country. It costs the phone company a lot more money to upgrade than the cable company so they aren't as ready to start changing their ways.

I would suggest you try the "Internet Connectivity" forum, and try to find some help there.

Immediately after you get dumped, run a traceroute to both

beta.hitechcreations.com alt.hitechcreations.com

Then post the results to the connectivity forum, where you will get some assistance.
