IL2 tail issues
« on: August 30, 2004, 11:27:43 PM »
Have been having problems with the IL2 and coming to a stop.  As the aircraft is stopping on the runway with the tail still up in the air, as the tail comes down it will bust off.  I even had the tail one time start bouncing off the ground, higher and higher each time.  But that was awhile ago and only happened once.  Anyway, I suspect that this is something that isn't supposed to be happening.

I've been flying the IL-2 alot these last two maps. I've never noticed anything funny while landing, (all parts intact every landing), could it maybe a stick setting issue that made you bouncing the IL-2 like that? I've had werid stuff happen on take offs and landings when I was setting up my sticks.

I fly the IL2 alot. Its tail will break off on landing if you stop and its not on the ground. It has the same problem the f6f had. Also if you are not on asphalt the IL2s tail will bounce. The slower you go the higher the bounce until it breaks off. You cannot take the IL2 onto the grass. Not even for a second.

Had the same issues with IL2s last week. I really don't think its a stick setting issue- I landed nice and slow, put the wheels down without bouncing or coming down hard, put the brakes, on, tail came up, when the plane stopped, tail settled down and snapped right off. Did this 3 times in a row at one point. I wasn't flying the f6 when it was buggy, but it sounds like a very similar problem.
