Attackers storm Russian school

Planes, trains and schools. Look's like Putin's going to be busy.


At least 200 pupils and some parents and teachers are being held hostage in southern Russia after a school was seized by armed attackers.

An Islamist group, calling itself the Islambouli Brigades, claimed responsibility and described the attack as "part of the wave of support and assistance to the Muslim Chechens".

What can they possibly hope to achieve by this other than total revulsion from any sane individual regardless of religious beliefs? How do they justify this at any level?

In short, WTF is wrong with these people?

One thing I'm sure of, I scrape stuff of my shoes that has more religious significance than these freaks.

Their cultural tradition doesn't include such concept as "work". Robbery, murder and racket are the only "honorable" occupations for their male species. (sorry, I just can't call them "men").

They fight for "independance" that means the right to stay in a prehistoric tribal gangster society, for freedom to rob and murder for fun.

It is foolish to imagine Chechens aren't sincere in their beliefs.  It compounds the error to believe they aren't religious.  Most of them pray 3 times daily to the same god you pray to.

Prayer brought Muslim Chechens to this point.  Let's hope that courage and rational thought will permit the Russians to find a way out.

Only a human being could take something has innocent as a belief in a higher power and twist it to murder, rape, and abuse another human being physically/emotionally/economically.

The attacks on the Airliners are being tied to Bin Ladens group.  I am betting the car bomb and the attack on this school are also.

Islambouli Brigades took responsibility for both plane bombings and yesterday's explosion at Rizhskaya station.

Lt. Khaled Islambouli was an officer who killed Anwar Sadat.

"Official" Chechen sources (http://www.chechenpress.info/english/) give usual hallucinations about "Russian special services provocations". Looks like there is some kind of competition between Maskhadov's gang and other terrorist groups for the fundings from "moslim brothers".

IMO, history is going to remember islam as the religion of killing, kidnapping and terrorism in the 21'st century. Their actions are an abomination to civilized people around the world. To claim they are acting in thge name of all muslims (much less God) paints the entire religion with the brush of hatred.

What I cannot understand is why the muslims don't control their own.

I have been a Christian all my life so I must confess that I do not know much about the teachings of muslim religion.  I hear that it is supposedly a religion of peace.  If that is true, why don't the moderate "mainstream" muslims police their own house and stop the terrorist madness of muslim militants??????  Is it because they actually can't or because they won't????

I hate to lump everyone in a particular religious group together, but, generally, why are muslims seemingly the only ones who systematically resort to violence like bombings and kidnappings to kill innocents?  There are plenty of Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, etc. around the world who are just as poor, uneducated, politically disenfranchised, etc. as many muslims.  Yet, you don't see these religions using violence on such a scale.  For decades terrorist violence against innocents has been conducted by muslims. What is different about the situation of the muslims?

I hope and pray that as many innocents as possible are saved.  I would hate to be in Putin's shoes right now having to deal with this nightmare.

When I was growing up, Catholicism was the religon of violence. They were the ones setting off bombs in London, kidnapping torturing and murdering in Northern Ireland.

They practically invented modern suicide bombings, they carried out literaly hundreds of them in Sri Lanka. They assasinated Rajiv Gandhi, the Indian prime minister.

The Tamils are mainly Hindu, with a substantial Muslim minority. The Hindus are the ones behind the Tamil Tigers, and they carried out frequent attacks against the Muslims, and Buddist Singhalese majority population in Sri Lanka.

Or look at Rwanda. Both sides Catholic, in a couple of months they murdered 800,000 of their fellow citizens.
