WWII Vet helped capture me 262
« on: September 01, 2004, 12:06:33 PM »
All week I have been working at the Air Force base in Niagra Falls helping do security for the air show. On Sunday afternoon I had a half an hour break and got to sit in the front bleachers n the tarmac. I was able to sit in the V.I.P. section. I sat next to an elderly gentlemen who wore a base ball cap that had writing on it that said he was a veteren of WWII. We were soon talking to eachother and I found out he served in North Africa, France and Germany. We both watched as a p-51 and a f-16 were doing a stunt. He said I remember when my unit took a experimental airfeild the Nazis were using. His unit help capture one of the few feilds using the German jet planes. After capture the Germans offered to show how the aircraft worked. All the men in the unit were quite suprised seeing the first jet aircraft. He remembered when a me 262 turned its tail towards the group of on lookers many of the crowd hide in nearby foxholes. The gentlemen latter said he saw many of the first jets including the me 262 and the me 163.
The last thing he said to me was that him and his buddies never laughed so hard when a group of high ranking officers showed up to see the Germans show off the aircraft. The officers stood behind the jets, with a table filled with coffee containers in front of them, and the jets quickly sprayed the officers with coffee and dirt.

Dear God, man.  Does your keyboard not have a `.` key on it? :)
