Suggestions for GV repairs

Here's what I've been thinking - how about separating the "resupply" funtion from the "repair" function?

1) GVs will not be repaired with crates of supplies. In order to repair a GV, a friendly M3 must come within 10 yards of the damaged vehicle, and activate "repair function".

2) The "repairs" a M3 initiates, will not be instant. Each damaged component on the damaged vehicle will take different amount of time to repair.

* tank turret = 2 minutes to repair
* AA vehicle main gun = 1 minute to repair
* engine = 2 minutes to repair
* tracks = 1 minute to repair

So, if a tank has turret, engine, and left track damage, it will take total 5 minutes to repair. A friendly M3 must come within 10 yards of the damaged GV, initiate the "repair" function and wait for 5 minutes.

3) The "supplies" a M3 carries, will only resupply the ammunition on the GVs.

.....

IMO, this change should bring lot of small but benevolent changes to the GV warfare.

If M3s have a separate repair function, that will get rid of;

1) the instant-GV repair problem

GVs being instantly repaired with 'resupply' crates.

2) the "spray the field with supplies" prolem

People spawning M3s in defense positions, and spraying the entire area with hundreds of crates of supplies for use

3) the "selfless volunteer" problem

People hate to do supply/repair runs.

An organized GV assault is very effective and desirable in terms of gameplay - however people seldom do supply runs becuase it has no rewards, and remains a pure voluntary action.

However, if a M3 can repair GVs, and receive hefty perks for that action - then it might become a good part of the gameplay in the future.

I was just about to slam your idea up until the last line.  You got me with that one.

Hefty perks would have to be at least 10 points per minute repairing.

i like it somewhat.. i agree many many perks are required. seeing as you will be killed many times trying to fix a GV.

what happens BTW if you are 3/4 through "fixing" an engine and get killed? if you bring another M3 do you have to go through the whole time again?

it would also seem in the field fixing a track would be harder than an engine, and therefore should take longer then the engine.
I don't know what to put here yet.

I like it.

TO answer JB73, I would say that repair time should be cumulative, so that if the M3 repairing you was killed at T+1:55 of a turret repair, another M3 could finish the repair in 5 seconds.

Also, I would like the idea of a Team effort to make a repair - as in - if 1 M3 could fix a turret in 2 minutes, 2 M3s could do it in 1 minute - but no faster than 1/2 the normal time (to prevent possible abuse)

Possible abuse?  I don't see 6 M3's surrounding a panzer as abuse.  I call that an opportunity.

Kweassa

Your post was well written, concise, to the point, well thought out.  I agree that the current system needs changeing.  And I even like the proposals that your suggesting.

I only have one problem.

You blow away anyone else who posts in the AH bbs. Your a late war poster in a mostly early war nviourment. Therefore we have decided that you need to be perked.

You will be required to deposit 15$ into the acct of a needy AHer before starting any new posts.

JK of course  :)

Couldn't agree more, hopefully HT is reading & will implement.

Sorry if I'm repeating something that someone else said already.
But, I would like to see each tank come with 1 repair kit by default.  I'm sure tanks always had some kind of tools available in order to make quick repairs out in the field.

If the tank needs a 2nd or 3rd repair; then, the repair kit has to be delivered by another party.
