Question from a soldier stationed in Germany
« on: September 02, 2004, 09:11:39 AM »
Actually, from his father:

Quote
My oldest son is now in Giessen, Germany in the 1st Armored Division, 1AD, Old Ironsides.  He says the woods around the town are heavily cratered from the war.  I asked if he thought it was from artillery or aerial bombardment.  He says that they are supposed to be from air attacks and that there was a phrase often used "Save one for Giessen" since I gather there used to be an SS training camp there.
Does anyone know anything about this?
