I live in Orlando.
Accomodations here are numerous, the question is what you want to come here to do?
Theme Parks? Space Center? Museums? Night Life?
All the above? If all the above then your best bet (and best way to save money too) is to go to your travel agency and book a 'disney vacation'.
They will give you 7-day park tickets, hotel accomodations & lots of free goodies including (mostly) free transportation to the attractions in the theme park area (its actually a service in most hotels).
Night life in Orlando is easy to get to from the disney area hotels as well (heck 70% of it is IN the disney area). If you want to visit kennedy space center you can rent a car or grab a cab/bus there, its a 2hr trip but well worth it.
Just a few tips for you though:
1- dont use hotel cutlery (forks/knives) and bring your own pillow. Trust, me I used to work in housekeeping/maintainance in many hotels in the area. Bring your own.
2- if possible get the 'VIP' tickets to theme parks. Nothing sucks more than having just a few days to visit the parks and only being able to go on 4 rides a DAY (7 hours average) because you had to wait in line for 1-2hrs per ride (each ride lasting 5 minutes tops). The VIP passes lets you skip 90% of the line.. and its about 30 bucks more expensive than regular tickets but damn its very worth it.
3- research the places you want to go before coming here. You can lose an entire day's worth of time deciding where to go.
4- whatever you do, ,wherever you decide to go.. you MUST go to the MEDIEVAL TIMES restaurant (located in Old Town). Perhaps the best restaurant in town for the food quality, the entertainment and the prices. Reservation needed in advance FYI.
5- Sorry, contrary to popular belief, ,Orlando does not offer or accept trade-ins for 'newer' models of w.i.f.e.
