I'm in the training arena, and I ask if there is an FFA (Free For All) at the field we are at.  All three other players, including SigP228, say yes.

I get into a fight with one of them and we are having a great scrap.  Then the other two come in and bounce us and kill us both.  SigP228 kills me.

No problem - it's an FFA.

I take off again and I kill two of them.  Then I saddle up SigP228 and start picking him apart with my 202.  Right as I'm putting the last burst in him, he types that he doesn't want to fight me.

After that he denied that he ever shot me down (even though the score buffer and my own eyes clearly showed that) and denied that he agreed to FFA (again, the buffer showed that as well).

Sounds to me like a sore loser.  I knew this guy was an idiot from his moronic prattle in the MA.  But I didn't realize he was a lying sack of dung.  SigP228, get a grip.

C'mon...

I dropped by the TA the other day, first time since I came back. I grabbed a plane and grabbed a little alt (completely different from the rest of the crowd). I circled, figuring that if someone wanted a fight they would climb after me.

Soon someone did. As we were at 5K (waaaay above the rest of the planes) we were left undisturbed. We then went through a few maneuvers. I wouldn't shoot him because I knew that would be it and he might not come back up, but I practiced avoiding his bounces and lining up shots. He asked how I did things, and I told him. By the end of it all he was able to pretty much control that furball as he desired.

I got into it a little too- I usually land, and the first guy to strafe me on landing is the guy I will pick. Sure enough, along comes a fellow who whacks me on the runway. I asked if he cared if I shot back, he said "sure!" Four kills later I felt like a bully and pulled off of him.

I know this doesn't directly address your problem, funked, but I know you know that you have to be a bit diplomatic in there, as these guys are the newest of the new. Expect every kind of irratic behavior known to AH, and then some.

As for veterens being in the TA, how in the world does a veteren practice new techniques? Thought that is what the TA was for, a place to learn? I was sea-level furballing in a P47-D25 against Spit IX's, something I definitely wouldn't try in the MA. Funked was in a 202. Hardly whacking on newbies!

Kieren,

What's wrong with sea-level furballing in the P47?

Oh yeah... I guess there is that part where I die all the time... but that's a minor issue.

It's ok, Duck. I forgot mine too!

Yeah, I have furballed the P47-D30 in the MA at sea-level and escaped with a few kills, but hadn't tried the D25. When I was practicing with the new fellow I made the comment that with a P47 I could clear that furball out below and there wouldn't be a thing they could do to stop me. I was trying to illustrate the advantages of keeping a little speed and judicious selection of "the moment". The fellow who strafed me (and who BTW had been vultching the runway for some time) served as the perfect illustration of how you can select your targets, hit them, and get out untouched if you play it right. What was cool was that this fellow I was working with began tag-teaming with me, and we even did a little drag-n-bag. I thought it had been productive for us both, the perfect TA session.

I was in H2H for a while and you see stuff that makes that tame by comparison. Guys get alt announce IN! on channel 1
Then you reverse on them and they announce OUT! on channel 1...
????boom
Then they rant for a while and try the same thing again. Sometimes the guy running the host will boot ya just as you get postition on him....
Ya...H2H makes the TA seem rational....

Hehe Funked...I ran into this guy yesterday also.

We were at 56 and it was designated as the FFA field.  Actually <S> to all those I tangled with yesterday, some really good fights and everyone showed class.

Anyway, this sig guy started vulching us on take-off with an M16.  We warned him a couple of times (and we took care to warn him ALOT), and then a few of us proceeded to vulch him everytime he popped up in that M16.  Didn't take long to chase him off.

Hehe...no problems...issue solved...the vigilante way

Hey, Cobra, had a blast with you guys last night, poor Geeman cried when we quit because he wanted to play more, but alas, dinner and homework awaited him!  He got over it fairly quickly, but then discovered that "Black Sheep Squadron" wasn't on Monday nights out here (only Tue. thru Fri)...so another melt down followed! heheh, dang kids nowadays!

I ran into a situation in there with the same fella last night. Seems he likes to ignore friendly requests for him to behave.

Guess he'll have to learn the other way...

I was mean for the first time to a newbie last night.

Pieface was asking to join people as a gunner and I told him to join me as I entered the furball at A10 in a Hellkitten.

Didn't hear anything from him after that - maybe he was too scared.

Ended up flying with my rudder, flaps, 1 gun, and 1 aileron shot off. Kamikazed finally into an M3 - if I was pie, I would have been scared s**tless by my flying.

Lephturn... you don't die all the time. You certainly schooled me on the high points of getting my butt whipped by a low Jug.

Yanno Funked, you seem to exhibit no inhabitions when I was trying to tangle with 2 or 3 spits on the deck last time I was in the training arena

Ah the joy of FFA.
