You all should remember one thing everyone learns when they are a child... quitters never prosper.

Good job, but don't let your guard down dude. I smoked for 12 years.....quit for 2 1/2 years, then for a reason I can't even remember started again about a year ago. I just quit *again* last Saturday, and this time it's for good. I thought after 2 1/2 years I was home free, but I smoked ONE cigarette on my 32nd birthday and that was enough to make me pay $$$ to take time off my life for another year.

I quit smoking and drinking once. Man it was pure hell. Longest 45 minutes of my life. :D

Actualy I did quit smoking a few years ago for about 6 to 8 months. A couple of us decided to make the Sturgis run and by the time I returned home I think I had made up for every cig I had missed in those months.

heheh..welcome to the 'quit smokers club'.  I havent touched a cigerette in 16 years.  The trick?  You have to quit every single time you want one for the rest of your life.   So you litereally fight 1000's of battles.  The first 3 years are critical, and I can say, You havent really quit until you go 3 years without one.  After that you only get the craveing once in a while, and really, just smelling someone light up a fresh  marble red is enough tobacco pleasure.
And, you can enjoy the occasional cigar.

I had one cigar after 3 months.. when my daughter was born. I figured that if i could not handle that then i would be way to weak to manage the rest of my life. :)

Nilsen, before you re-start to smoke think about what good you
have done to your body the last 8 months. Your lungs and your heart
will be gratefull, why re-start to poisen them slowly again?

<--- 2 years free of cig slavery.

Been about 3 months for me, I have had maybe 4 cigs total since then (drinkin with the boys).  So I guess I have quit.  Sometimes when I get stressed I really really want one.
