everything should be shot that way (except scopes above 4x, they make me dizzy, so I have to close the left when I start to figure the aim-point).
it gives you a much better SA, and a clear idea of things(or people) who are wandering into the area, and what you are likely to hit if you miss the intended target.
IMO it is crucial with moving or live targets, it gives you a much better idea of how much lead to give, and terrain that may effect if your target is staying on his original path for the next 10th of a second or so.
it takes a lot of practice to train your eyes to allow one to bring your sights in focus and the other to focus for distance. it's hard to explain how to do it, kind of like let your eyes look at everything with out thinking to hard on looking at either.
