Map consistency
« on: September 04, 2004, 11:27:58 PM »
I was wondering if there is any standard for map development when it comes to the load it places on your computer?
It seems that right now such standards aren't in place. At least on my machine some maps are very sweet to fly in (the current map for example) while others slow down my machine quite dramatically.
I can understand why some map developers would want to cram as many trees, farms, strats, alps and whatever into their creations, but it would seem that there should be some kind of standard so you sort of know what to expect when you log on a discover a new map. Trees are nice (I spend a lot more time than is good for me in gvs) but on some maps I've flown over tree covered hill after tree covered hill far from any vehicle spawn. Scenic, but sort of an unnecessary drain  on the system.
I'm not saying we need flat desert, just some consistency.
