I am a chili GOD
« on: September 07, 2004, 08:56:09 AM »
You may all bow down to me now! :D

Thanks to the encouragement of you fine folks to make my own chili recipe, and the good graces of the local specialy food store, I was able to acquire some very fresh ingredients and make the best chili I've ever tasted.

A list of the ingredients:

Spanish Olive Oil
Cubed sirloin(not to be confused with SirLoin) steak
Fresh garlic
Fresh red onion
Fresh japapeno pepper
Fresh habanero pepper
Fresh Poblano pepper
Canned diced tomatoes
Canned black beans(sorry rpm371)
Fresh chili powder
Fresh garlic powder
Fresh cumin powder
Fresh paprika
Fresh kosher salt
Newcastle Brown Ale

All I can say is, wow. This is by far the best chili I've ever had in my life. The fun part is that I did absolutely no measuring. I just browned the cubed steak over high heat in a small amount of olive oil and the chopped garlic and onion, then deglazed the pan with lots of New Castle.

Added the rest of the ingredients, brought it to a vigourous simmer, then turned the heat down and simmered, covered, for about three hours, adding more New Castle and spice as neccessary as the taste matured in the pot.

Thanks to all who contributed their own recipe. But I learned that making your own recipe is much more satisfying.

If anyone is planning on being in my location on Wednesday afternoon, stop in and you can try some yourself as I make a huge batch for my fantasy football league.

Y'all are overthinking this way too much.

Brown a pound of ground beef with taco seasoning, add ketchup.

Voila, chili.

I take it in Texas if you add beans It's NOT Chili anymore?

Us "Northerners" Always add Beans to our chili!!!!!

We Add then to Pasta studmuffinole also But cannalini beans.

Just because some of us are from the North doesn't mean we can't cook chili.

You don't put beans in it all you have is cubed steak Thats called Kabob!!!Just put it on a skewer!!!

Chili without beans what will they think of next?

Nobody in my family has since my grandfather refused to let anyone speak it. Well maybe refused it a strong word for it.

It had just alwys been explained to me that Clhili con carne ment chili with beans.

By "fresh" I think he means he just bought it mate.  :)

I've never had chili made with cubed beef.  Sounds good though.
