Musketeers Planned Tribute to One of Our Own

**Edited with Corrections** 2-14-01

<S> to All....

I know alot of individuals and squads have expressed an interest in helping the Musketeers give a tribute and <S> for Sniper.

Here is how I would like to approach our tribute to Sniper (and please make suggestions also).

I would like to start the event at 2 pm Eastern, precisly, on Saturday Feb. 17th.

The Field in the TA will be A49.

All Musketeers, except those 4 flying the formation, are to taxi 1 at time from the fighter hangar in F4U-1C's.  We'll use alphabetical order to establish the roll order.  Please taxi to the opposite side of the runway and park your plane facing 90 degrees to the runway, and shut down engines.  And park in a smart, wingtip to wingtip formation.

I think there will be portions of the squadrons that will want to do a fly-by as well.  I will ask the 4 members from each squadron stand ready at a nearby airfield and wait for my signal to begin to roll.

The rest of the members from each squadron I will ask to go on the runway facing **SOUTH** and bail, then walk over to the **EAST** side of the runway and face the tower, after the last Musketeer has parked his plane.  I will ask them to line up in parade formation north of our parked plane formation.

Then as we are forming up for our fly-by, I will ask the other squadrons to roll from ***A51*** and circle NORTH of the ***A49*** along the ***13*** grid line.  Then as we have as we are doing our fly by, I will ask the other squadrons to space out and then turn SOUTH to do their own fly by, and then rtb to A48.  This will happen after we do our fly-by.

I am trying to schedule this so it concludes before the snapshot at 3 pm Eastern.  So if everyone that wants to attend be in the TA by 2 pm sharp, and wait in the tower for instructions that would be greatly appreciated.

***Rip, Please have your 7 Tanks move to behind the bomber hangar, and then wait for the Musketeer Planes to get parked.  Once they have parked, move your tanks into position beside them****

***For those interested, we are practicing Thursday and Friday Nite in the TA at 9 pm Eastern***

Again, <S> to all!

sounds like a good plan Cobra

Only suggestions I can think of:
push the time up a little if you're worried about being done by 3 for the snapshot

A diagram of where you want parked aircraft and the honor guard standing.  Then have the honor guard taki to thier area and bail (using external view).  Prolly get'em lined up quicker since the kites can taxi faster than walking speed.

Dinnae forget a buff flyby.  I remember alot of time in 26s and 17s with sn1p3r, and he was deffinately one of the top hands.  Maybe have one of the other squads in 17s and one in 26s for a low pass on the runway.

I think it's a very good idea. It's a very neat thing to do I'm sure he would really like this. <S> Guys. I really don't know if I will be able to there. On top of that I'm not the best formation flyer.

Cave,
Good ideas.  I'm not good at the plotting thing and posting, but I'll see if I can manage it.

I think Hang was gonna get a B26 Fly-by together, and if one of the other Bomber Squadrons wanted to get a B17 Fly-by organized that would be great.

Also, I forgot to mention....The Squad's that wish to have a 4 man fly-by team can choose the ride of their choice to do the fly-by in.  The Musketeers are picking the Corsair because it was Sniper's Favorite Fighter.

Also, the squadrons that have more than 4 members show, or who don't wish to do the fly-by, remember to join the Honor Guard on the field in parade formation.

To do this, you just spawn on the runway (facing North) and hit enter 3 times to bail.  This will make it able for you to walk around the field.  The Honor Guard will line up on the west side of the Runway and face the Tower.

Might I suggest a 21 gun salute with 7 tanks as well? Simotaneous fire, upon your command, 3 times.. Just a thought....

Give me the green light and I will have 7 tankers in formation ready for fire.

I dinnae about ostwinds and M-16s, but 7 tanks is the closest we can come to riflemen I guess.  Parked shoulder to shoulders, barrels to 10oc and max elevation... sweet idea Rip.

Although I did not have the time here to get to know him, judging from the overwhelming response to his passing he must have been a great guy.  I'll be sure to be there.
