Yes, it was Frederick the Great who stated that, but you read in Hap Arnolds autobiography that defending everything at once is exactly what the British did in the Battle of Britain, and they suceeded.
On the first of this thread, once again someone takes the cheap and easy, but not necessarily well thought out line about Tail Gunner Joe. What that ignores is the fact that yes, there were communists trying to make inroads into our society. Joe McCarthy was correct in his thinking, but wrong in his method of investigation and prosecution. As a whole, he may have saved us much trouble in later years.
I won't fault Channey for advocating vigilence and action to prevent terrorism from spreading in this country. Clinton and Dole may have been happy to bury their heads in the sand, but I prefer leaders who stand guard instead.
