http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/09/08/kerry.wed.ap/index.html

"A protester stood at the beginning of Kerry's speech on Wednesday and started to yell, but a man sitting next to him wearing a T-shirt from the Sheet Metal Workers union grabbed him and put him in a headlock. Two other men sitting nearby joined the fray and pushed him to the ground.

Secret Service agents escorted the man outside the building. Reporters who tried to talk to the man were ordered to return inside. Officials said he was complaining that he was assaulted and they were investigating"

I do believe that would be assault. Would it not have been better to politely ask him to leave first?

No question he was assaulted, may have been justified? Wonder under what authority the reporters were ordered back inside the building?

If a Secret Service agent tells you to step back 3 feet and you do not comply, they can immediately arrest you.

I would assume it was the Secret Service Agents that ordered the reporters away and that they did so because they were still questioning the guy but the article doesn't state it.

Disrupting a public meeting in Ohio is a misdemeanor.  They should have told him to shut up, then if he didn't, removed him from the public meeting.

By "they" I mean law enforcement.  Not some union thug.

They don't quote what the guy was yelling, he may have offended the Union guy. If so...

Not if it violates your civil rights.  Read the SS Charter very carefully.

They could theoretically arrest you though, and probably would, but you will win a lawsuit if they violate your civil rights.

Awwww...he offended the union guy?

Geez...unions are old fashioned and unnessarry in todays world....that form of "legal criminal" action in the name of workers rights has no place in todays society....All unions due today is cause prices to be jacked up in order to afford to pay for the workers demands......wish I owned a corperation just so I could refuse to hire union people..
