Rule No. 1 - Always keep the weapon pointed in a safe direction.

Guess he forgot about that one.

I truely beleived if more people were taught the 4 weapons safety rules we could reduce accidental gun deaths at least by half.

1.  Treat every weapon as if it were loaded.
2.  Never point the weapon at anything you do not intend to shoot at.
3.  Keep the weapon on safe untill you intend to fire.
4.  Keep you finger strait and off the trigger until you intend to fire.

but nope....the NRA are a bunch of monsters for teaching people not to shoot themselves.  It's all the gun's fault.

Maybe next time he'll learn to use training rounds instead.  Obviously though his "safety" session was more of a "don't do this and shoot yourself like I'm about to".

I had to teach my wife the ins and outs of my Ruger P95 and P97.  I initially walked her through with training rounds.  When I was showing her the decock mechanism at the end I used a live round to show her it was safe. Considering niether of these weapons have a safefty mechanism I had to ensure her it was still safe.

Again thought it's as Gunslinger has said.  They need to follow the basic rules first.  That way if a round does accidentally discharge no one is hurt.

it often seems that some peoples only purpose in life, is to serve as a warning to others.
