Nominee Survey!
« on: September 10, 2004, 09:37:36 AM »
First, congratulations to all who have been nominated. Your nomination should be viewed as a show of faith and respect from your fellow CT players. The goal here as I understand it, is to find the best suited person for the job. It is not a personality contest, good or bad.
With that said, I would like to put forth this short survey to the nominees. Answer as much as you feel you can but please be honest and fair with your replies.
I invite others to post any questions here that they may have for the nominees.

#1 On average, how much time do you spend in the CT and do you monitor the CT forum daily?

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are  you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?"

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

#6 A hypothetical situation:
You have a setup in place and are in the arena for some play time.
Several squadrons have planned an announced mission as part of their squad night and are currently executing there mission. You receive a request from a player and or a squad mate to make changes to the planeset (adding or taking away certain aircraft). What is your reply or response?

Good luck to each of you and thank you for your time.

Hardly fly in the MA any more.  Drop into the CT most nights.  How long I spend there depends on the current setup and the day I've had.

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

Don't need any training, I've been a CM for over a year and head of the CAP team.  Er.....which is an event that doesnt exist right now due to lack of terrains.

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?

Er....yup.

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

Um.......I suppose that being a hard headed SOB who won't take any **** isn't much of a selling point?

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

I want to improve the radar settings even more by using the CAP event method of setting bardar to only trigger when someone flies over 20,000ft.  Damn alt monkies.....

#6 A hypothetical situation:

Depends on who's setup is currently running and what the request is.  As a general rule I'd NEVER shreck with another CT staffers setup.  I also think planeset discussion should be limited to this forum, CT staffers will (well ok, should) listen to requests that don't begin with "What ****head decided......".  As for other settings, if, for example, some numpty had set the fog to 3 miles and people could no longer see the ground from 15,000ft then I'd prolly do something about it.  Also, pilots need to know what to expect in the CT, making changes and not documenting them in the MOTD and the setup post in this forum would be unprofessional.

No exact number but I would say between 5-10 hours a night. I read them religiously.

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

I do not have any prior knowledge of the settings but i have been messing around with some of the settings offline to see what they do.

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?"

Begining to get that background and would love to know more so yes i would be willing to do the research.

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

Other than my flying abilities i am a fast learner.

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

I think any changes that would be made in the CT need to be tested before full implementation. To that end i would like to CT ambassador's as one of the changes and then work from there to see about getting more people into the CT. I have more idea's but just using these as examples.

#6 A hypothetical situation:

Honestly no. Maybe that is being harsh but they know what the setups are and they should plan accordingly. Now from the squad's point of view maybe once we have enough map's there could be a calendar of weekly map's so that they would have more time to plan there mission's.

Good luck to all the nominee's

Usually in the CT 3-4 nights a week. I never fly in the MA, but I do fly just about every event the AH offers.  I try to monitor the forum daily, but there times I may miss checking in.  But I do have a whole squad that flys the CT keeping their eyes and ears open and would also be willing to give out my cell phone number in case there is a problem, that way I would be certain to stop in the CT that night.

I also am currently working on making sure a mission is set for every Thursday night, which will get more involved in the near future.

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

No I have no understanding of how any of the settings work.  But I  have the utmost confidence that I will learn them, learn them quickly and be as proficient if not more than any other staffer in a reasonable amount of time.  I also have 3 squad members that are CM to offer a knowledge base.

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are  you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?"

Yes I have the knowledge, yes I am willing to do the research. I also have extensive experience in wargaming, which imo, will come in handy when devising setups.

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

I have the energy, the desire, the commitment and the responsibility to work hard to make the CT what it was intended to be and also increase the player base.  As mentioned I am currently focusing on the "Target For Tonight" missions and also working on developing a website to support the CT.  More than any current staffer has or is doing I might add.

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

Player interaction, been preaching it from the beginning and is the reason for this vote.

I would not make changes for a player, even a squad mate.  But I would make changes if it enhanced a mission as long is it kept with the setup's historical theme.  Assuming that the mission involves a resounding majority of players in the arena for that night.

Depends on work, 2-6 hrs per week, I do monitor the forum daily, yes.

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

I do, as a CM I have knowledge of arena setups.

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?"

Yes and yes.

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

I have keen interest in seeing the CT run smoothly, and be as inclusive as possible, with setups that appeal to a broad range of players.

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

I would like to see "mission nights" more, with more squads and players doing cooperative missions with set goals. That should not detract from "furballing" which is also why many show up. There is room for everybody.

#6 A hypothetical situation:

It would have to be "in line" with the setup, but I would seriously consider any reasonable request. That seems like common sense.

Lastly I want to say that if elected, I will demand that players wear pants while flying in the CT. We do have standards.

#1 On average, how much time do you spend in the CT and do you monitor the CT forum daily?

I try and average around 1-2 hours a day in the CT.  Sometimes I will get more, sometimes less.  I monitor the BB religiously...at work and at home.

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?

My understanding and knowledge of the arena settings right now is very..very limited, but that will change.

#3 Do you have a basic background knowledge of WWII and aerial combat of that time and are you willing to do the research for new setups and setups that may be questioned?"

Yes and Yes.  I am currently in the military, and I graduated as a History major.  WWII aerial combat is one of my favorite research topics (why else would I be here? :) )

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?

I'm honest, fair, impartial and have a thick skin.  I listen to serious suggestion's and serious criticism.  I will not make "knee-jerk reaction" decisions.

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?

That's a tough question....I enjoy and have enjoyed every setup so far in the CT.  I don't have an agenda for the CT, and I'm not here to make it my little playground.  I will look at positive suggestion's from the community and try to find the happy middle ground.  I know you can't please all the people all the time.

#6 A hypothetical situation:

Depends on the situation.....will the changes upset the balance in favor of one side over the other??  Or if a change is made to one side, can an equal change be made to the other??  Are you making the change for a logical reason, or just because your buddy/squadmate/countrymate asked you too??

If a setup is running smoothly, and the matchup's are even (to the best degree they can be) then I would probably see no reason to make any changes.  But, if it's a reasonable request that could add something to the gameplay, then I will consider it.

Again...I'm always open to serious suggestion's from anyone, but I will not make knee-jerk reactions to appease one or two people because they don't like the setup.  I believe it's the responsibility of all staffer's to make things as fair as possible (maintaining as much historical accuracy as possible within the given setup).  Also, I would/will not make any deletions/additions to any setup that is not my own.

I'm able to make most nights, from 10 or 10:30 until 11, perhaps a bit more on weekends.  When I'm out of town, which happens fairly frequently, I'm unable to fly, of course.  I'm pretty good about monitoring the boards a couple of times each day, with exceptions (such as the past two weeks).

#2 The CT staff will be giving you plenty of in depth training regarding the many arena settings in AH. While you the candidate are not expected to be familiar with the myriad of settings, do you feel that you already have some prior understanding or knowledge of how some of these settings work?
I have absolutely no understanding of how any of the settings work.  Hopefully they can be manipulated by the ignorant.

I'm no Wildwing, but I think I've got a pretty good understanding of the war, and of the air war in particular.  I don't have access to the technical books that some of you have when you determine what date a given aircraft was introduced into combat.

#4 Briefly, what attribute or attributes do you possess that you think best qualify you for the position that you have been nominated for?
Heh heh.  I'm a reluctant draftee.  I love the CT.  I appreciate the efforts of the staff, and would feel guilty if they were overloaded because no one wanted to help out, while I enjoyed the fruits of their labor.  So I'm offering to help out.

#5 What would you most like to see improved upon or changed in the CT or what is your vision for the CT?
I would like to see more people in the CT, without ruining what I consider to be the cameraderie and ethics of the CT.[/b]

Not a chance.  While I'm generally easy to get along with, I tend to be inflexible about changing things like CT setups.  They only last for a week, and we are old enough to cope with small matters that displease us.
