pls take a look at this routing
« on: September 11, 2004, 12:15:52 PM »
I rejoined ah after a 6 month break, but found my connection much worse than usual. Im on a 33.6k modem, and i used get ~300ms to the MA server for last 2 years. There were some better and worse days, but it was usually playable. Now this on the picture below has been there for me for a week now. Is there anything one can do about getting a 300ms increase 4 hops away from the server ?

That looks like your packets at the  peering point between level3  and savvis are delayed.
I'm passing the same point and have no delay. So, my guess is, that your packets have a low priority and therefor get delayed.

Hopefully, it's just temporary.

The problems at that location are due to re-routing by Savvis while hurricanes hit the South East U.S.  It is temporary.

Skuzzy, I also get that loopback and I got it way back in early July.
I know I posted about it then with no answer and can probably did up the actual pingplot if it would help. I found it.
This one is from July 9, 2004 about 9:30pm ET.

This has two loopbacks, but I've had one in every pingplot I've done since then.
I don't want to try and be the fly in the ointment.

Savvis is aware of the situation.  We hope it clears up soon as well.

Thank you Skuzzy as usual and yes, its tough to clean the 'poop' up when it's in someone else's backyard and the wind blows it into yours. [ So to speak ]

Packet loss on your very first hop, so all bets are off all the data that follows it.

You are loosing data between your computer and the first router.

My ping times (and very often packets drop) have increased over 100% since August ( before hurricanes ). I used to have pings in 50s, now I'm lucky if they are bellow 100.

Very often I experience packet loss of 50% or more and it always happens in Savvis's Denver routers.

They last for a week, then they disappear and come back in few days and cause loss of UDP.

Another thing which I've noticed and causes UDP loss, is AH2 texture reloading. Sometimes it happens fast and I get only white textureless objects for a second or two, other times it causes CTDs.
