Historical Background:
An act of sabotage which became famous and possibly had an effect on the outcome of the war, was the attack on the heavy water plant at Vemark, in Telemark county. Here, Norwegian soldiers, trained in the UK, were sent into action near the small town of Rjukan, where Norsk Hydro produced heavy water, a liquid chemical, which the Germans needed for the development of an atomic bomb. Although the Germans guarded the plant, the production facilities were destroyed. Heavy water which was en route to Germany was also destroyed, at the cost of many Norwegian civilian lives. Though no known Mosquito raid took place in WWII to destroy the storage of heavy water facilities this Snapshot is based on fictional information that the Canadian and Royal Air force may have acquired and acted on.

First, thanks to all of last nights participates and to the CO's Agflit and Smuz for stepping up to the plate. I think everyone experienced an enjoyable frame. This turned out to be a very smooth but close frame, so I will get right to the scoring.

The RAF/RCAF escorts were able to tie up the LW defenders just long enough for the mossies to make their drops on the Heavy water facility at A69. The damage was limited and it did come at a high cost to the mosquitos, but it was just enough to secure a minor allied victory.

Allied Score:
5 enemy 109G6's destroyed at 10 pts each = 50 pts
37% of the Heavy Water facility destroyed = 37 pts
----------------------------------------------------------
                                    Total allied score: 87 pts

Axis Score:
4 enemy mosquitos destroyed at 15 pts each = 60 pts
1 enemy spitfire destroyed at 10 pts each = 10 pts
-----------------------------------------------------------
                                      Total axis score: 70 pts

Shown below is a bomb damage assesment image taken after the mosquito's attack.
