Answer to the Radar situation?
« on: January 08, 2001, 11:42:00 AM »
HT was online yesterday and said the only thing they are currently looking into in changes of the radar are the possibility of changing radar bar sectors so that N.O.E. a/c would not show up on bar radar.

It's not completely eliminating dot dar, nor sector dar, but its also a conservative approach to the alternative of making too drastic of change and losing customers...

What do you think?  A step in the right direction?

I think so too, Saw, and it will also help prevent 'Goon Hunting' that is currently going on, thus inspire goon drivers to start flying goons again!

Ya, I think it's definately a step(albeit a small one) in the right direction.

Hopefully this will promote more "behind enemy lines" type of attack missions, where a large attacking force could sneak into the vast enemy hinterland and grab a base without the enemy knowing about the raid as soon as it takes off.

You smell that? Do you smell that?
Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that.
I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
The smell, you know that gasoline smell, smelled like victory.

I believe that if the dot dar was updated every 4 seconds it would make things a lot better.

No more cloud fights gone wrong because the dweeb was staring at the gps dot radar to get my bearing

NOE not showing on the sector bars is GREAT! Especially with carrier forces!

Definately.  I actually believe that all the dar mods should really only pertain to the sector bars.

All that would be left would be to remove sector bars over enemy territory unless a friendly is in that sector.

Good point, I hadn't thought of that, wonder if HTC has given this thought?

Didn't it work this way in Warbirds, at least at one time?

I remember a Stuka raid in WB that was based on not showing up on dar and flying along the ground. It worked until we were in visual range, and then we got pounded.

It works great. As for the MA, most players ignore attacks incoming on radar anyhow, so I don't know how much it would change the MA.
