Perfection.     I would like to study how you achieved that dull matted look on the fuselage paint - did you put this one up as a .psd file to AH-SKINS?     I'm trying to learn about the initial color choices, how they relate to reference colors posted at color reference web sites, and the affect changing opacity has on these - for example the beautiful dull yellow you have on the tiger head.    Did you start with USAAF reference yellow of #FFB700?

Also, did you draw the tiger head freehand?   I lifted mine from an decal image I found on the web, then tried distorting, scaling, and touching up sections of it to make it fit.  Looks OK from a distance, but a real hatchet job up close.

As far as other P-40 subjects, given the mulitnational, multitheater nature of the P-40s service, could you do a North African desert RAF P-40E with shark mouth (Clive Caldwell's GA-Y)?   Also, Geoff Atherton's RAAF P-40E "CLEOPATRA" serving in New Guinea would be a nice addition I think, and appreciated by Australian AHers.

Again, beautiful job, Citabria.   Thanks!

Hopefully this gets approved before Rangoon.

Just how bad a frame rate hit do folks take running 1024 textures as compared to default?

Its not so much the frame rate hit, it's the stutters/freezes you get as the large textures load, I think.

I have a 2.8 GHz P4, 1 meg RAM, a Radeon 9800 Pro, and I have to scale down to 256 max texture size to keep the game playable online.   Offline, I can fly around in 1024 just fine.

The default P-40B has the right markings, I believe. Just be nice if the P-40E's had something cool to wear as well.

Thanks anyway ... the schedule is mighty tight as it is and no sense taking on the headache.

Fester, not that you've indicated that you will, but I thought since Oboe suggested it I'd better speak up.

Im plugging away at the "Cleopatra" version Oboe mentioned.

While its no where close to your standard it is still a work in progress, even though i placed it on the skin forum I am still refining it so if you dont mind I'd like to eventually finish it and submit it to HTC myself.

Also thank you for the tip about the wording in the previous post.

My bad, FTJR.  I see it out there now.    Great choice!

Fester, maybe a 23rd FG P-40E (Dallas Clinger's P-40 had the original "pissing kid" on the tail - I think he's urinating on the Rising Sun, though, not Dodge or Ford) with a shark mouth.

Or a sand/ dark tan camo US P-40E with the yellow border around the star insignia, from 1942 North Africa I think.

I doubt we'll be seeing a P-40F or L, so perhaps HTC would allow doing some of those color schemes on the P-40E base?

Awesome work Festardbria :)

On the P40F models, I sure hope so Oboe :)  I'm working on the "Stud" P40F at the moment.  My last skin, "Destitute Prostitute" was also a P40F.  Hehe, maybe I'm overstepping my bounds.

Hell, HTC can lop off the cowling intake and adjust the FM and blam, we have a P40F :)

Great Work, wonderful skin.

@ Oboe: assuming you mean 1 Gig Ram I have almost the same setup then you do (2.6 GHz here) and no problem running 1024 Textures. Have you tried Preloading to memory? Works fine here, no Stutter at all.
