Hard to believe that beast would get up off a carrier.  I suppose it would have to use a catapult off the Essex class with a payload.

Skyraider!!!!

I just watched a kick bellybutton episode of Wings Over Vietnam about the Sandys and the Jolly Greens rescuing downed pilots.

Those guys had some balls!!!!

I saw one fly at the Sussex Airshow 03.  They are actuall pretty nimbal for such a huge plane.

Three years ago at the Corning Air Show they had a Skyraider.

The weather was bad. Foggy, cold, raining on and off.

Whenever the rain started up again the Skyraider would go up again.

He probably flew the equivilent of six airshows that day.

We were curious as to why he would go up and the others with their Corsair, Mustangs, Thunderbolt, etc. would not.

The people that we talked to told us that the other pilots didn't want to damage their paintjobs on their planes.

One kick tail plane and one kick tail pilot!

He was the show and it was great!

I've had the honor of seeing a pair of Skyraiders.
They took off rather easily, did not use so much runway, and flew quite nicely.
I hadn't expected that from what they look!
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)

Didn't they use that plane in "When we were soldiers", when they called "Broken Arrow". I know jets came in but wasn't that the first plane on the scene ? .. or am I thinking of another movie.

I saw probably the same one at the sussex airshow in 04 :)

Just forgot what it was.
Agreed Very numble for its size.
It along with the Corsair flew formation at the end of the show. Just amazing how graceful they are and how seemingly effortlessly they fly /climb etc.
The warbirds at the end are always my favorite part and really the main reason I go.
Well the Biplane with the jet engine attached was pretty cool too

8 hours in flight time without chopping throttle to nothing.  The marines loved them for this.

Btw, it was in We Were Soldiers.
