I don't think kids have a place at political rallies and meetings such as that. They'll hear things they wouldn't understand or be subject to such action against them as shown in the article.

If I was that kid, I'd be crying because I wasn't at home watching Spongebob Squarepants.

He has a point though.  It says a lot about a person's character when they think it's funny to see children assaulted.

I bet you he brought his kid just so he would get publicity like this...

respect others in their view, and demand that they respect yours.
Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life." - Chief Tecumseh

Shoot this guy , using his daughter as a political tool is more  than lame.

As a father I can't understand a father corrupting his kid with politic.

This link is useless.  Their "First Amendment rights were infringed".  How?  Gee, what "they did" isn't in the article.  That tells me they "did something stupid" and "leave it out, bash Bush".  Which ONE of the 1st Amendment rights were infringed then post that link.

If you laugh at kid crying regardless, you're a sick SOB.

A couple arrested for wearing anti-Bush T-shirts to the president's July 4 appearance at the West Virginia Capitol filed a federal lawsuit yesterday alleging their First Amendment rights were violated.

Nicole and Jeff Rank were removed from the event in handcuffs after revealing T-shirts with President Bush's name crossed out on the front. Nicole Rank's shirt had the words "Love America, Hate Bush" on the back and Jeff Rank's had "Regime change starts at home" on the back.

The ACLU filed a federal lawsuit last September against the Secret Service, seeking an injunction against the Bush administration for segregating protesters at his public appearances. The Secret Service agreed to stop the practice.

Bush's appearance in West Virginia was an official visit and not a campaign event.

The lawsuit said the Ranks obtained free tickets to the July 4 event. Information they received with the tickets specified items they were not allowed to bring, such as coolers and lawn chairs, but did not say anything about clothing. Nicole Rank received an e-mail at work that said, "there is no specified dress code."

Jeff Rank said he and his wife wore the T-shirts because, "When you see the president speak on TV he is usually shown surrounded by fervent supporters only. While we wanted to hear him out and while we wanted to see him in person, we did not want to be added to the tally of Bush supporters that day."

They were not shouting or heckling, did not lie down in protest and did not resist arrest.

What part of this did you not understand?

yes we should shield our children from all things Bush.  Don't teach them any of your values or even why you beleive in them.

There teachers are going to turn them into bleeding heart liberals anyways so why bother.

And how dare that father spend time with his girl.  Shouldnt he be at work!  Taxes arent going to pay themselves.

If the kid was upset it was probably because she was exited about hat she was doing. She probably wanted to do it so as to be like her daddy. Anyone with a little kid should be able to understand that
The lowlife kerry edwards supporters needed to have their brains beaten in for their utterly disgraceful behaviour.
Or at least been arrested for assault and destruction of private property
If it werte my kid I would have opted for the former.

Some real toughguys they musta been

Doesnt matter which side your on
Ya dont mess with a little kid. Period.

Well I guess Yahoo and the AP got it wrong here.

You're probably right.  Big bad evil liberal democrats probably rushed the guy.....and to defend his own lazy hide picked up his daughter in front of him so their crazed bush hatedness would blind them and imediatly cause them tunelvision so they attack her sign instead of him.

what a coward :lol

not as disgusting as the parents in s.f. and berkeley marching their toddlers in "antiwar" demonstrations where "bush=hitler" signs and slogans glorifying suicide bomber killings of israeli civvies are to be found. when it comes to crass and disgusting the extreme lefties have the market cornered. just compare the demonstrations at the two big conventions.

"Using" your kids is wrong. I don't care if it's Republican, Democrat, Green, Independant, Communist or whatever. The guy had one thought on his mind, "I'll use my little girl to make sure I can be an ultra melon without anyone bothering me." His priorities are very screwed up.

nonsense. there is nothing saying he was acting confrontational in any way whatsoever. his daughter was holding a sign that someone didnt like and they tore it up. one person here is guilty of bad judgement and it isnt the dad. id love to hear the cries of "censorship!" if the roles were reversed. if some kid got their plo flag taken from them in some march in s.f. it would be all over a couple of tv networks and if the guy who took the flag was beaten to death the extreme left wouldnt shed a tear. their statements and reactions to several situations show that they only care for "freedom of speech" and other "rights" when the speaker or the suspect is a sworn enemy of the us govt as lead by bush.

The values you need to teach your kid have nothing to do with politics.
It's the parent who are the role-model not a stinking politician.

And this guy is just wrong ,he should have anticipated and protected his daughter ,and not have used her as a shield.

It's like driving at +100mph ,if you're not stupid you don't do that. And even if you are stupid enought to do that because you really love speed will you risk the life of your kid because you love driving fast ?

In short : his is a dumb idiot by puting his daughter at risk for nothing except his own political opinion.

For the record : do you really think this little girl do care of who will win the election ?.
Me think she care more of the latest barbie.
