NFL Week 2
« on: September 18, 2004, 12:42:04 AM »
After a bit of a dissapointing 7-6 record last week Im hoping for some better results this sunday. Here are my picks of the week for everyone to look at and discuss.

Chiefs over the Panthers  (Davis is out now and with no deep reciever threat anymore the cats are hurting, plus Holmes should hav fun running all over them)

Packers over the Bears (Should be an easy one for the Pack but I always worry about these games with them)

Broncos over the Jags (after watching them last week I think the jags will have trouble with the Broncos offense)

Texans over the Lions (Really nothing to say here, could be an interesting game but I think the texans will take it)

Colts over the Titans (Manning and Harrison will be looking for some redemption this week after last weeks tough loss)

Ravens over the Steelers (Pitt. pulled out a lucky one against oakland last week and Ray lewis is going to be playing like a crazed man after the loss to cleveland)

Saints over the 49ers (Could be an upset for S.F. but I dont think its going to happen)

Falcons over the Rams (Judging my the two performances these teams put out last week I have to say the falcons look like the better team so im going with them here. Rams just dont seem to have the same fight in them this year)

Redskins over the Giants (Injuries are going to hurt NY for this one and the Redskins are going in after a big win)

SeaHawks over the Bucs (Even if Alexander is out for the game the bucs are too beat up and dont have what it takes right now to stay with them)

Bills over the Raiders (Bills D should easily win this one for them, plus oakland didnt show much last week too make me think they can put up a win here)

New England over the Cardinals (AZ looked strong last week against the rams but N.E. is just about a perfect team right now and I dont see any weakness)

Jets over the Chargers (S.D. looked strong last week but curtis martin is running like a new man so far and I dont see anything changing this week)

Bengals over the Dolphins (How can you not route for the Bengals at this point)

Cowboys over the Browns (another good matchup but I think the cowboys are going to be looking for revenge and the browns will have their guard down)

Vikings over the Eagles (this has to be the game of the week, but im going with the vikings on this one. Both teams have great QB wide out combos but neither has an established running game. So you have to look at the D and I think the Viking D will hold up better than phillies. The vikings also have more Wide outs that have to be covered than philly does.)

some good picks:) i hope seahawks kick some butt.havent seen a good run out of them sence the days of dave kraig and steve largent,,but they allways been my fav underdog team, been to alot of there games, even to the last game in the kingdome before they blew it up,going to miss that place

i think the lions mite beat the texans, but you never know in the NFL:)

chargers would do much better if they used doug flutie i think,,lol but i dout they will beat the jets,,i dont have confidence in brees,,but i use to say the same thing about brady and look what he did for the pats,,lol

now bengals and dolphins,,,i think the dolphins will win even
know i would like the begnals to pull this one out,,but the miami is out for blood this game im sure,,if they would just settle on a qb

think your right on the cowboys,,i sure hope vinny kicks some butt for dallas,,browns have been awfull last few years,,they really need somthing to change

raiders can put up a run against the bills i think,,but you never know,,the stealers did kick them around some last week

vikings and eagles<~~this one should be a slammer i dont know who will come out on top of this battle

good to see nfl sunday back again, sure missed football season:)

Did anybody actually watch the PIT/OAK game?  PIT won it with a buzzer-beating FG.

Oakland  lost and Pit had their number all day  : )

Cards might jump a few teams, but they will go nowhere as usual. The Cards/ Rams game was actually a pretty good game.

We just need to setup the Bus with more 1 yard 3 td runs and Ray Lewis wont have a prayer no matter how mean a face he makes this Sunday.  Go Steelers!

Foster is not a bad back up, do not be surprised if it is the Panthers who run the ball, they have to, they do not want the K.C. offense on the field. Carolina is a tough team, I would be surprised if they pack it in already. All that being said, I wouldn't touch the game.

Packers over the Bears (Should be an easy one for the Pack but I always worry about these games with them)

Division game, they usually play each other tough, I would take the 9 points.

Broncos over the Jags (after watching them last week I think the jags will have trouble with the Broncos offense)

Instinct and the fact that the Jags offense will make their defense play longer and wear down tell me to pick the Broncos. But I think the Jags might muster enough offense to keep their defense fresh. I'll take the three points.

Texans over the Lions (Really nothing to say here, could be an interesting game but I think the texans will take it)

Lol, wow! I'm showing Detroit giving three points? Have the planets aligned? I like the Texans here too, their offense has been together for three years and worked under the same system. You do something long enough, over and over, you get pretty good at it. I do not think the Detroit offense has had a chance to gel yet(I hope they do, I took Roy williams in alot of my drafts). I would not be surprised if the Lions won, but i'll take the points.

Colts over the Titans (Manning and Harrison will be looking for some redemption this week after last weeks tough loss)

I'm showing the Titans only getting a point and a half, with even teams like this, home field is worth 3, I would take the Titans in this one

Ravens over the Steelers (Pitt. pulled out a lucky one against oakland last week and Ray lewis is going to be playing like a crazed man after the loss to cleveland)

Yeah, the Steelers picked a bad time to come to town, but this is another division game that should be rockem sockem. I'll go out on a limb and take the Steelers and the 4 points.

Saints over the 49ers (Could be an upset for S.F. but I dont think its going to happen)

The problem with the Saints is you do not know which team will show up. The talented one that can play good football, or the one that doesn't feel like playing today. I won't touch a saints game.

Falcons over the Rams (Judging my the two performances these teams put out last week I have to say the falcons look like the better team so im going with them here. Rams just dont seem to have the same fight in them this year)

I'll go with the Rams here, only because I think they realize through experience that this game, although early in the season, is very important.

Redskins over the Giants (Injuries are going to hurt NY for this one and the Redskins are going in after a big win)

Giants are a home dog in a division game, but I would take the skins too. You see that hit Manning took last week? And he thought he would get killed in San Diego? Welcome to the NFL kid.

SeaHawks over the Bucs (Even if Alexander is out for the game the bucs are too beat up and dont have what it takes right now to stay with them)

Wow, all Tony Dungy needed was an offensive coordinator and he could have taken credit for that Superbowl(as he should have). Looks like the Raiders made out like bandits on that Gruden deal, eh? That being said, I'll take the home dog.

Bills over the Raiders (Bills D should easily win this one for them, plus oakland didnt show much last week too make me think they can put up a win here)

Oakland is giving up 3 1/2, but i'll take the Raiders. I wonder if that kid Doug Gabriel is the real deal?

New England over the Cardinals (AZ looked strong last week against the rams but N.E. is just about a perfect team right now and I dont see any weakness)

It is going to be hot, I hear it is supposed to be close to 100 degrees, this could play a big role. Coach Green will do his best to make the Pats defense run around, if he can run the ball, he will do that, if not, I would not be surprised to see a spread offense. The Pats do not play well in the heat early in the year(Miami), so look for the Cardinals to attack the Pats defense and wear it down. I'll take the 8 points

Jets over the Chargers (S.D. looked strong last week but curtis martin is running like a new man so far and I dont see anything changing this week)

I was laughing at the Jets before the season began, but they may get the last laugh. I'll take the Jets.

Bengals over the Dolphins (How can you not route for the Bengals at this point)

You have to like the Bengals, but i'll take the 4 1/2 points(I think out of pity)

Cowboys over the Browns (another good matchup but I think the cowboys are going to be looking for revenge and the browns will have their guard down)

I hope so, I picked the Cowboys to be in the Superbowl. If they lose this game Skuzzy will have a field day.

What a great Monday night game, huh? I'll take the Eagles giving three.

Seriously? Did you watch their game last week?  If so, were you fetching beers every time they were on defense? Indy marched up and down the field on them before imploding a couple of times.

If NE defense played like they did last week, they won't go far in the playoffs.  Just ask Chief fans how far they go in the playoffs w/ a great offense on no defense.

Jets vs. Chargers...

I'm a San Diego native, but if there ever was a matchup that could potentially end up with NEGATIVE points being scored, it's this one.  San Diego never fails to find some way to lose no matter how good of a start they have, and the Jets...  Rhymes with Mets...

:)
Everyone I know, goes away, in the end.
